Kahlert Foundation Makerspace
The Kahlert Foundation Makerspace officially opened in February in the Kevin J . Manning Academic Center . Funded by a $ 350,000 gift from The Kahlert Foundation , the new space features a dedicated Biomedical Engineering Lab designed to complement Stevenson ’ s Biomedical Engineering program . The Makerspace also contains the Innovation Lab where students and faculty can use a wide variety of equipment — from hand tools to 3D printers , soldering and laser cutting equipment , computer-aided design ( CAD ) technology , and a ShopBot computer numerical control ( CNC ) machine — to turn their designs into reality .
Philip A . Zaffere Library
The 43,000-square-foot Philip A . Zaffere Library officially opened in March . Featuring spaces to facilitate student and faculty collaboration , research , and scholarship , the Library will also host social and cultural events as well as house faculty and administrative offices . The building includes the attached Philip A . Zaffere Amphitheater , a distinct new outdoor venue for education , campus events , and the arts .
Mustang Mock Trial and Triumphs
This was another standout season for Stevenson ’ s Mock Trial teams . Both teams won multiple awards , with one team qualifying for the Opening Round Championship Series ( ORCS ) tournaments in March . The A team went on to compete at George Washington University in Washington , D . C . and earned the Spirit of the American Mock Trial Association ( SPAMTA ) award , recognizing the team that best exemplifies the ideals of the American Mock Trial Association — civility , justice , and fair play .
Stevenson Mock Trial also brought back Camp Mock , a summer program for students — including incoming
freshman — interested in learning more about the world of litigation and careers in law .
Center for Student Life and Leadership ( CSLL )
The Center for Student Life and Leadership ( CSLL ) is located on the second floor of Garrison Student Union , adjacent to the Reading Room . The CSLL offers 8,000-square-feet of dedicated space for student clubs and organizations to host meetings , plan initiatives and events , or simply reflect and learn together .
