Five Chemistry and Biochemistry juniors — Tabytha McLaughlin , Mackenzie Redding , Riley Schap , Tamar Singman , and Marisa Sloan — traveled to New Orleans , Louisiana to present research at the 2024 National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in March . The students took part in the Summer Science Scholars Research Program ( S3RP ) in the School of the Sciences during the summer of 2023 and this served as a fitting conclusion to their projects .
Business Communication seniors Daniel Anisimov , Maya Townsend , and Jacob Crosby presented at the annual meeting of the Eastern Communication Association in Baltimore in March .
Biochemistry junior Marisa Sloan presented her work , “ Potential strategies for reversing the negative effects of bleaching on the anemone-clownfish symbiont relationship ,” at the 2024 Northeast Regional Honors Conference in April in Albany , NY .
Environmental Science seniors , Shania Hyatt and Eve Vickery , presented research at the annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the Ecological
Society of America in April at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania with their faculty mentor , Mark Norris , professor of Biological Sciences .
Fashion Design junior Richard Carranza and senior Emily Pickett were awarded the Student Scholarly and Creative Works Summer Grant 2024 . Richard will use the grant to create a new line of 100 % bamboo fiber T-shirts , while Emily will explore developing a sustainable biomaterial fabric made from bacteria to create a wearable garment and accessory .
Biomedical Engineering senior , Jai Raccioppi , was accepted to the Ph . D . program at the University of Florida . At the University of Florida , Jai will work with his top choice principal investigator , Dr . Lakiesha Williams , to research the effects of traumatic brain injury on the mechanism of Alzheimer ’ s , Parkinson ' s , CTE , and other neurological disorders .
First-year Biochemistry major Alyssa Reddy presented her poster , “ Isolation and Characterization of ChuckDuck , a Cluster FA Phage ,” at the 2024 SEA Symposium in April .

School of Education seniors Chloe Binas , Valeria Quintanilla Carranza , Kylah Hardy , Ebony Janey , Kristina Ramnath , Jessica Reinartz , and Sierra Sheppard attended the Maryland Teacher of Promise Institute , a mentoring program for pre-service teachers to engage with and learn from seasoned teachers .
Junior Biomedical Engineering and Applied Math double major Becky Go received the prestigious 2024 American Society of Biomechanics Summer Research Award . Funding from the award will allow her to continue the research into factors that influence fall-injury risk that she started during the summer of 2023 .
Olivia Oxendine will be attending the School Counseling masters program at Loyola . Olivia received the CRISP scholarship — a highly-competitive , full scholarship — for her work with underserved populations . While at Stevenson , Olivia earned the highest GPA in the Counseling and Human Services program in her sophomore and junior years .
