JENNIFER AND GEORGE REYNOLDS COMMIT $ 250,000 FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Stevenson is pleased to announce that university Trustee Jennifer Ward Reynolds and her husband , George K . Reynolds III , are committing $ 250,000 to fund current need scholarships for Stevenson students . This gift follows the $ 100,000 that the Reynolds donated in 2021 to establish the Reynolds Endowed Scholarship to assist students with strong academic standing who demonstrate financial need .
“ We have always believed in the power of higher education to transform lives and prepare students to become successful professionals ,” the Reynolds said . “ We know that the pandemic has created financial challenges for many students and families , and with this gift we hope to help talented students who are completing their educations at Stevenson but might be facing unexpected financial need .”
“ We are fortunate to not only have Jennifer ’ s service as a Trustee but to also have two great friends deeply committed to Stevenson ’ s mission ,” said Elliot Hirshman , President of Stevenson University . “ We are very grateful for their extraordinary generosity that will make a difference in the lives of our students for years to come .”
Jennifer Ward Reynolds has served twice as a Trustee of Stevenson with her most recent term on the university ’ s Board starting in 2018 . Currently a partner and director of the Harford Countybased commercial real estate firm Ward Properties , she has spent more than 30 years in asset management , most recently holding the position of Vice Chair and Chief Investment Officer of Legg Mason Trust . She has previously served as the chair of the board of trustees at Dickinson College , her undergraduate alma mater . Her service has also included chairing the board of the National Aquarium as
well as appointments to the boards of the Walters Art Museum , Sheppard Pratt Hospital , and the Baltimore School for the Arts . The Maryland Daily Record has twice recognized her as one of Maryland ’ s Top 100 Women .
George Reynolds is an attorney with Miles & Stockbridge and a member of the firm ’ s estate planning and administration practice . A graduate of Wesleyan University and the Boston University School of Law , he has practiced law in Maryland for more than 40 years . His areas of focus have included tax law , estate planning and administration , trusts , and elder care law . A regular speaker to professionals and groups on these legal topics , Reynolds is a past Maryland State Chair of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel . He is currently a member of the board of the Irvine Nature Center and a past board member of the Walters Art Museum , the Howard County Conservancy , the St . Joseph Medical Center Foundation , and the Arthritis Foundation , Maryland Chapter .

Day of Giving

Beginning at noon on Thursday , April 28 , Stevenson held its fourth annual Day of Giving . Day of Giving is an opportunity for the entire SU community to support the people and programs that matter the most to them by making a gift within the 24-hour period . This year , we surpassed our 300-donor goal with 321 donors , setting a new participation record for the campaign .
