DEVELOPING CREATIVE CAREERS AT THE MILL AGENCY
Managing and overcoming the challenges of client work helps students develop the valuable “ soft skills ”— such as communication , leadership , teamwork , and problem solving — they need to succeed in the workforce . “ It can definitely be challenging working with clients ,” said junior Graphic Design major Michaela Watts . “ One of the main challenges is communication and just making sure you and the client are on the overall same page .” “ The most valuable thing that The Mill has taught me is that there is more than one way to reach your end goal ,” said junior Business Communication major Jacob Crosby . “ Something that is sometimes lost when it comes to group projects is the ability to have many different ideas and methods for completing the task . Your group is more than just someone to split the workload with , they are a true resource .”

BRICKNFIRE PIZZA COMPANY
One notable past client of The Mill was BricknFire Pizza Company . Founded in 2014 by Stevenson alumna Megan Lanasa ’ 09 as a mobile wood-fired pizza truck , the company quickly grew . After adding more trucks , launching a nationwide frozen pizza line , and winning the Marriott-sponsored Canvas competition , the company began preparing to open a restaurant in the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards . That ’ s where The Mill came in .
The students of The Mill helped spread the word about the BricknFire Pizza ’ s first brick-and-mortar location . They created social posts , designed a new pizza box , and generated fun ideas to help the company engage their customers .
