AROUND THE QUAD
North Campus Quadrangle
Construction is also progressing on the new North Campus Quadrangle. Centrally located, the Quadrangle will connect the buildings of the North Campus Academic Hub while providing a beautifully landscaped green space where students can relax, study, and socialize. Earlier this fall, new walkways were installed, with additional landscaping, seating, and lighting coming soon.
South Campus Developments
On South Campus, Stevenson installed its first electric vehicle( EV) charging stations in the Mustang Stadium parking lot, promoting sustainability and convenience for electric vehicle owners.
Last Spring the South Campus Learning Commons opened in the former Brown School of Business and Leadership library space. The Learning Commons offers comfortable new study and meeting areas for students and faculty, including the dedicated Green Zone room for military-affiliated and veteran students.
In Memoriam
Malcolm Berman
It is with deep sadness that Stevenson University shares the news of the passing of Malcolm Berman on Sunday, September 7, at the age of 89.
A visionary entrepreneur and devoted philanthropist, Malcolm, together with his wife Sandra— a long-serving member of Stevenson’ s Board of Trustees— left an enduring legacy on both the university and Maryland. Married for 69 remarkable years, Malcolm and Sandra built a life rooted in love, family, and service. They were the proud parents of three sons and the beloved grandparents and great-grandparents to a large, close-knit extended family.
From humble beginnings, Malcolm led an extraordinary life, building a diverse and successful business empire spanning publishing, hospitality, banking, real estate, and eldercare. But beyond his professional accomplishments, he will be most remembered as a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished time with his family, especially the annual tradition of family cruises, and took great pride in the lives and achievements of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Malcolm and Sandra’ s generosity and commitment to philanthropy have made a profound impact on the Maryland community. Together, they have enhanced healthcare and education across the region. Their support has led to the creation of the Sandra and Malcolm Berman Cancer Institute at GBMC; the Sandra R. Berman Heart Institute at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center; LifeBridge Health’ s Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain and Spine Institute; and the Sandra R. Berman Center for Humanity, Tolerance, and Holocaust Education at Towson University, among many other contributions.
At Stevenson, their contributions have been transformational. Their gifts have supported the naming of the Sandra R. Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions; provided cutting-edge educational technology and equipment for our Nursing Resource Center simulation labs; created scholarships for nursing students with financial need; and, most recently, supported the Sandra and Malcolm Berman Family Performing Arts Center— now under construction on our North Campus.
Malcolm Berman’ s life was a testament to deep familial love and uplifting the greater community. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
