MAKING MUSIC, BUILDING COMMUNITY TOGETHER
remains its community.
“ Students can sometimes feel isolated— even at a school like Stevenson,” Denhard said.“ But the choir, the band, the orchestra— they give you a tribe. A support system. That kind of community makes students happier and helps them grow.” Lortz echoes that sentiment.“ The Music Department is a home for a lot of students,” he said.“ I’ ve seen students come out of their shells and gain confidence through performance. They become accountable— not just to a class, but to a group. The band becomes a family.”
At Stevenson, music isn’ t just heard— it’ s shared. And in every note, every performance, and every gathering, the music program continues to build what it always has: community through camaraderie.
