Five Honors students who participated in SEA-PHAGES research In April, students Rebecca Go, Dan Castro-Portela, Olivia in 2024 and 2025 presented their work at Howard Hugh’ s Medical Institute’ s annual virtual conference in May. Kennedy Barrow, Krystal Yackulak, and Kelly Cunningham’ s abstract was one of six abstracts selected for an oral presentation. Madison Parker presented her poster,“ Annotation and Characterization of ShaiHulud, an EAI Lytic Phage,” and Victoria Herrera presented her poster,“ Comparative analysis of Cluster FF Bacteriophages CI Repressor Genes.”
Ryan, and Brooke Johnson attended the Spring 2025 MD- DC-VA Mathematical Association of America( MAA) Section Meeting at George Mason University. Rebecca Go presented her work,“ Application of Hof’ s Dynamic Stability Model Through the Lens of a Countermovement Push-up Trial: Derivation and Preliminary Results,” and won second place in the student presentation competition.
Six students from the Beverly K. Fine School of the Sciences presented research at the annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Ecological Society of America held at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA in April. Biology majors Andrea Hawkins and Mike Merola and Environmental Science majors Adam Abdur-Rahman, Emily Connell, Maggie Sehnert, and Lauren Sober presented posters based on their research.

Criminal Justice majors Alton Norris, Mary-Kimberly Idriss Kanago, Anna Lee Connell, and Samantha Collins presented at the annual meeting of the Maryland Consortium of Criminal Justice College Educators held in April at the Maryland Public Safety Education and Training Center in Sykesville. The conference featured a professional panel and recruiters from local, state, and federal public safety agencies in addition to student panels.
