Join Outdoor Recreation as we head up to Kyushu Island to hike
through the beautiful Kuju Mountain Range in the Aso-Kuju National
Park. If you’ve found yourself missing the warm colors of the fall, you’re
in luck. Late October and mid-November in Kyushu provides one of
the best places to see these colors bloom. This four-day tour takes
you around the Kumamoto and Aso areas, through the Kuju Mountain
Range, into the Takachiho Gorge in Miyazaki and to Sakurajima.
The Kuju mountain range includes the highest peak on the island and
is made of mountains that are covered in networks of hiking trails that
offer spectacular views of the volcanic terrain. Before heading home,
we’ll take you to Miyazaki where you will see the Takachiho Gorge. This
spectacular site is made of steep walls created by columnar jointing
due to the rapid cooling of an ancient lava fl ow that fi lled the narrow
valley of the Gokase River after Mt. Aso’s eruption.
