any of the hard-working people at Public Affairs
usually spend their days doing just this, interviewing
and photographing those who are doing a great job
to support their fellow Airmen and community. Their work
does not go unnoticed and we wanted to give them a chance
to be on the other side of the lens.
SrA Quay Drawdy is one of the busy Airmen of Public
Affairs who spends most of his time behind the camera.
As a photojournalist journeyman, aside from having an
awesome title, SrA Drawdy spends his days interviewing and
photographing Airmen around the base being recognized for
their work. He explained that “We never know what the day
will look like!” It could be spent writing cool stories about
his most recent interviewees, or unexpectedly setting up a
photoshoot and escort for an incoming offi cial. He added
that because of its spontaneity, it’s a fun position despite
being more taxing than it appears to be.
Public Affairs makes many contributions to uphold
and support the 18th Wing mission, one of which is telling
stories of Airmen from all squadrons. By highlighting their
contributions, they help boost morale and communicate the
Commander’s message and intent to the people of Kadena.
SrA Drawdy’s recent accomplishments include being
selected to go back to school for broadcast and radio. But
