Four months after they
decided to call it a day, and an
hour before they’re due onstage
at Brighton’s Joker Pub, indie-
pop quartet Fur sat down with
us to discuss arguments, their idols, and mature pop songs.
With numerous festival slots booked and plenty of upcoming
headline gigs, there’s definitely a buzz surrounding Fur in the midst
of the indie community as they begin to find their feet within their
hometown of Brighton.
For anyone who isn’t familiar
with you guys, who is Fur and
how did you meet?
WM: Harry and I met in the
Summer of 2015, through
Facebook, because Harry had
seen my old band supporting
Superfood and so he messaged
me. We started sharing music
and then eventually we met up
and made music all Summer.

bass) moved into our house as

someone else.
HZ: He purely just plays bass

it wasn’t worth
throwing away "

with his student loan and joined the
band straight away - he was super
dedicated from the start.
WM: Then we met Flynn (Flynn
Whelan, drums) on a night out in
Brighton during Freshers’ week.
HZ: This one is always such a weird
story to tell, because we’ve talked
about it a lot in interviews but it
doesn’t ever get any less weird.
Basically, we were desperate to find a
drummer and then one night whilst
we were out, Murray and I noticed
a pretty cool looking guy and for
some reason decided to ask him if
he played drums, and he did. The
next day he came over to our house
and we practiced on our housemate’s
drum kit whilst she was out - she still
