Noname Mods

Italian manufacturers Noname Mods have been producing some
of the most highly sought-after devices since 2012, including
some truly unique designs. As a result, they’ve become a
cornerstone of the high-end vaping community. We spoke to
Andrea Pontiggia to fi nd out a little more about the method
behind their madness.

Q: What was the fi rst product you made and why
were you inspired to join the vaping industry?
We started a little for fun and a little for passion,
around an old forum for electronic cigarettes and
around our fi rst brainstorming the NoName was
born. We went for a big battery around a small
chipset, with a tube form factor. Giuseppe and I
met online in 2012 and at that time the community
was small, with few products that really worked.
The alternatives were: Cisco, cartomizers or
phantoms.
Q: What are the primary challenges of small batch
manufacturing? How have you overcome them?
The biggest challenge was to fi nd the right
suppliers. An electronic cigarette has many
components and it is basically impossible to fi nd
a single mechanical workshop able to make all
the individual components.
The most complicated part is always to imagine
something new and to transform the vision into
a functional product without fl aws, but luckily
we had some skills and a technical background
that provided us with a considerable competitive
advantage.
