N F E R REVIEWS H HUSTLE FUN SIZE By Benedict Jones Specifi cations: - Dimensions: 60mm*25mm (diameter of widest point) - Materials: Brass, copper 101 (stainless steel and copper tubes available soon) - Battery capacity: 1x 18350/20350 external cell - Switch: Bottom fi re action constant contact If you’re already a mechanical mod fan, Morningstar MFG should need no introduction, but for the uninitiated, they’re one of the top names when it comes to small batch, UK-made devices. Their machining skills are so highly regarded, in fact, that they’ve already produced mods for other UK brands. Earlier this year they impressed enthusiasts with their 21700 Reactor mod and now comes the Hustle Fun Size, a tiny 18350/20350 tube aimed at those looking for something a bit more pocket-friendly. Construction, fi t and fi nish of the Hustle Fun Size are all flawless. The tube itself has thick walls and though small, has a reassuring weight. Threading on the switch housing and bottom of the tube is buttery smooth, perhaps the nicest I’ve seen in six years of vaping. They catch the fi rst time, every time and simply ooze quality every time you replace a battery. CNC-milled engravings around the 510, switch housing and on the bottom of the switch are all fantastic and add some welcome flair to the reserved silhouette of the device, whilst also incorporating the functional ventilation found at the top and bottom of the mod into a pleasing look. The threadless constant contact switch is a unique but user-friendly design, which allows for easy regular maintenance. Simply remove the press fi t copper contact and surrounding ultem insulator, depress the switch and give it a slight turn to disassemble the whole unit. Historically, constant contact switches have been a little large and often more complex to disassemble but neither of these things is true for Morningstar’s design. As a bonus, the Hustle Fun Size switch is cross compatible with the Reactor switches, so you can mix and match if you own switches that use different materials or have alternate engravings. Performance is always a key selling point for mech fans and the Hustle Fun Size doesn’t disappoint. Of course, since the currently PROS - Outstanding build quality - Simple switch design - Beautiful engravings 194 VM26 CONS - None available cells compatible with the device are for low power vaping only, there shouldn’t be a time when voltage sag is hugely apparent but it’s clear that the power delivery on offer here is top notch. The current gold standard for 18350 cells is the EXO18350S (commonly rewrapped by Vapcell and Aspire) which boasts a 10A amp limit and approximately 1100mAh capacity. With one of these cells and a 0.85Ohm build, the Hustle Fun Size makes for a compelling stealth mod. I fi nd two cells to last a full day’s vaping, which brings the overall footprint of things you need to carry down to a bare minimum for a top tier MTL experience. With the aforementioned build, I did not notice any performance problems to speak of, which shouldn’t be surprising because the Morningstar constant contact switch has already proven to be one of the hardest hitters in their 21700 Reactor. Of course, if you build to the edge of that 10A limit, you will be switching out cells very often and in that case I would likely recommend an 18650 or 21700 tube. Morningstar’s decision to include 20350 compatibility is something of a futureproofi ng feature, since there aren’t any 20350 cells on the market that I can recommend yet. In summary, the Morningstar Hustle Fun Size is one of the very best miniature mech mods available right now. From its precision machining, to classy aesthetic and high performance design, it’s at the top of my list of recommendations for any mech head in need of a stealthy setup.
