N F E R REVIEWS H Timekeeper Magnifi cent VG/PG Ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild VG/PG Ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Timekeeper is described as a sugar biscuit with vanilla. The dominant note here is a rich, slightly dark and buttery biscuit. It is moderately sweet and very similar to the flavour of shortbread, with an authentic bakery flavour. The biscuit is supported by a mild vanilla cream, which gives the blend more volume and smoothness. The profi le is fi nished with a light accent of bakery cinnamon, which adds some extra depth, without overpowering the biscuit and vanilla elements. An outstanding biscuit flavour that can easily be vaped all day. Magnifi cent is Steam Train’s take on the classic cupcake. The main flavour here is a decadent and fluffy cake batter flavour, reminiscent of an American-style yellow cake. It’s a fair bit sweeter than the bakery flavour found in Timekeeper, but not overbearingly so. This is supported by a bright vanilla buttercream layer, which complements the cake nicely without over sweetening the mix. A simple but very moreish dessert, ideal for vapers with a sweet tooth. Whistle All Aboard VG/PG Ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild, with cooling VG/PG Ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with cooling Whistle is a blend of lemonade and brown sugar. Admittedly, I was sceptical of this combination at fi rst but it works very nicely. The lemonade top note is quite possibly the most authentic I’ve tried to date, with bright citric sweetness and an almost effervescent quality. Think homestyle lemonade, rather than the commercial kind. The brown sugar note is quite subtle in the mix but it does balance out the acidity of the lemon with its dark sweetness, creating a rich but tangy beverage flavour. A moderate coolant fi nishes the profi le without interfering with the balance of flavours. A must try lemonade. A classic combination of grape, green apple and ice. Grape is the dominant flavour here but it is quite different from most on the market. It’s a darker grape but not candied, in the American Concord style. Instead, it comes across as a more natural grape juice, albeit a touch sweeter. This is contrasted by a sharper green apple which again leans more towards authentic fruit than candy. The contrasting flavours make for an interesting profi le that seems to change throughout the day. The blend is fi nished with a moderate dose of coolant, making for a refreshing and light fruity vape. Another winner. Signalman Railroad VG/PG Ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild VG/PG Ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with cooling If you’re a dessert vaper, chances are you’ve tried countless strawberry and cream blends. Signalman is a simple strawberry and cream but it may be one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of trying. The two elements are quite balanced in the mix, though strawberry comes out on top. It’s somewhere between a natural and candied strawberry, with soft sweetness and very mild earthiness working in tandem. This is supported by a thick vanilla cream, which lends plenty of volume to the profi le. A must try for strawberry and cream fans. Cola profi les almost invariably taste like candy rather than a beverage. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing of course but fi nding the right cola can be hard. Steam Train might be the one you’re looking for. The top note is a sweet cola, which does carry some candy connotations, but it also has a slight herbal flavour that makes it taste more similar to the drink than many of its competitors. A mild lemon accent lends some additional brightness to the profi le, before it is fi nished with a moderate helping of coolant. An impressive cola vape. 204 VM26
