Words: Alyson Guiel As we touched down at Lima Airport some seventeen hours after leaving the UK, it dawned on me that I’d never ventured into the southern hemisphere before and here I was representing Vapouround at Vape South America Peru. Downtown Lima at rush hour is probably as frenetic as any other capital. The one overwhelming difference was the constant noise of car horns blaring - it was deafening! Apparently, drivers don’t believe in using their indicators. They choose to use their horns to let fellow drivers know they are moving lanes or overtaking! After just over an hour of being jostled around we were glad to reach the haven of our hotel. At this point it’s worth mentioning the weather (wouldn’t be the British way otherwise). We were just coming out of winter, a time during which the sun rarely emerges and when the 144 VM26 garúa, a kind of constant mist, creates an eerie, slightly oppressive backdrop. The Peruvian people, however, made up for this with their friendly, open and hospitable manner. The following day we set off for the Domos Art Peru, an unusual venue consisting of several interlocking high domes, creating a light and airy setting for the event – a welcome contrast to the gloom outside! But the biggest surprise was at the rear of the building, literally just feet away, the Pacifi c. You don’t see that at many venues! The vibe inside was friendly and relaxed, like a group of friends meeting up again. It was great to see so many regulars – brands such as Dinner Lady, Ultimate Juice, Nasty Juice, Riot Squad and IVG, along with other familiar faces such as Ohm Boyz, Element, Sad Boys, Twist and Barista Brew. The main show sponsor Mad Man had great presence throughout, along with other sponsors Arc, Vape Guys and Diamond Vapor. It was
