Millions of households across the UK are suffering through one of worst cost-of-living crisis the country has seen in decades .
A whirlwind of tax hikes and skyrocketing energy bills means that people are seeing hundreds , if not thousands , of pounds added to their annual bills .
And with inflation hitting an eye-watering 40-yearhigh at nine percent , many are now questioning how they can afford to keep their homes running and put food on the table .
While it won ’ t completely solve the problem , there ’ s one thing that the nation ’ s millions of smokers can do to help ease their money woes … switch to e-cigarettes .
The vape industry has long fought to protect people from the dangers of tobacco , to uplift public health and aid smokers across the world as they ditch their deadly habit .
But many forget that , alongside reducing harms to our health , vaping can also reduce harms to our wallets .
It has been estimated that a pack-a-day habit could cost smokers anywhere between £ 3,500 and £ 5,000 a year , while Action on Smoking and Health ( ASH ) say smokers in England alone fork out £ 12 billion on tobacco annually .
Alternatively , vaping can cost as little as a few hundred pounds annually , meaning it can significantly reduce your spending .
Even if you factor in buying your first device – which could come in at around £ 35 depending on the brand - trading your cigarettes for a reduced risk product could seriously boost your savings .
Michael Landl of the WVA stressed that prices should be ‘ proportional ’ to a product ’ s risk , highlighting that e-cigarettes are not simply a luxury product but a 95 percent less harmful alternative to one of the world ’ s biggest killers .
The World Vapers ’ Alliance director said : “ This is especially important for low-income households , who have the highest smoking rates and are currently hit the most by inflation .
“ Vaping is less harmful than smoking … but it also saves people money in their pockets and reduces their living costs .”
