John Dunne of the UK Vaping Industry Association – and one of the most prominent harm reduction voices in the country – was also swift to applaud the move .
He said it ’ s ‘ no surprise ’ that the Department of Health announced their world ’ s first prescription plan , especially when you consider the ‘ overwhelming ’ arguments for using vaping to end the smoking epidemic .
The UKVIA director general said : “ The government deserves huge praise for taking this bold decision to look more closely at vaping and for taking an evidence-based , science-led approach .
“ This is just the latest in a longline of breakthroughs for those of us who , for years , have advocated vaping as the best and most effective method for people looking to quit smoking .”
He added : “ We have repeatedly called on the Government to make access to vaping much more accessible … but it ’ s not simply a case of giving vaping products to smokers and sending them off .”
