Frankly put , these recommendations will kill people .

When health officials are citing the UK ’ s approach to vaping policy to back up their own flavour ban … you know something ’ s gone terribly wrong . A controversial study , funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada , has caught the attention of advocacy groups after it recommended a series of regulations set to prevent youth vaping . But most alarming was when the report tried to justify a widereaching flavour ban , by claiming the UK has also ‘ banned or restricted ’ flavoured products . While the UK is seen as a world leader in harm reduction , longestablishing itself as the golden standard for vaping regulation … it seems researchers in Nova Scotia didn ’ t get the memo . The Canadian Vaping Association called the report ‘ unequivocally false ’, stressing that the UK has ‘ taken no action ’ to ban or limit flavours . A CVA spokesperson said : “ It ’ s interesting that the report uses the UK as an example of restrictive policy , considering that it has embraced vaping as a harm reduction tool . “ Both Public Health England and King ’ s College London are global leaders in vaping research and the UK is so confident that the country has run many campaigns encouraging smokers to switch .” Critics have accused the report of failing to prove that flavours are a main driver for youth vaping , or that a ban would protect young people without ‘ harming the rest of the population .’ The CVA said : “ The vape industry acknowledges that action is needed to protect youth , yet anti-vape proponents refuse to acknowledge vaping ’ s efficacy and harm reduction potential . “ If implemented , the policy recommendations within the report will lead to thousands of premature deaths from smoking . “ Frankly put , these recommendations will kill people .” Canadian vape shop owner Donald Vosburgh tweeted : “ Heart and Stroke doesn ’ t care about Canadians or harm reduction . “ Each year 45,000 Canadians die from combustible tobacco . Zero from vaping . They have demonized vaping despite all the science . Don ’ t be fooled , they don ’ t believe in harm reduction .” Scott Attrill , who uses social media to alert people about vaping misinformation , tweeted : “ I will never give that organization one cent of support . Shame on them .”
