UK vapers can shape international tobacco harm reduction policy by simply sharing their stories with MPs .
Words : Patrick Griffin
The World Health Organization has long-established itself as an enemy of vaping , with its hostile policies regularly featured in the pages of Vapouround Magazine . And just when you think the WHO ’ s relentless anti-vaping campaign couldn ’ t get any worse , it ramps up the rhetoric to a new high . It seems that it won ’ t be satisfied until every vape product is wiped off the face of the earth , despite the millions of people around the globe who rely on the lifesaving technology . While it often feels like there ’ s nothing we can do to impact the huge anti-vaping lobby , we now have a window of opportunity to turn the tide of the global approach to vaping .
This is why Vapouround Magazine is proud to support the new # BackVapingSaveLives campaign and we urge all our readers to do the same . We Vape Director Mark Oates says the UK ’ s 3.2 million vapers could help roll back the global attacks on this life-saving industry by simply telling their stories .
He said that a deluge of messages from ordinary vapers around the country could help push the British government to stand up for vaping at a key international tobacco policy summit in November . The COP9 conference – which is notoriously anti-vaping – helps shape the message from the WHO , a body which needs little persuasion to tell the world that e-cigarettes are bad .
As the UK will send a delegation to the conference , it is the ideal opportunity for it to say how tobacco harm reduction has worked so well and plays a vital part in helping smokers quit . Mark Oates was joined by the Counterfactual Director Clive Bates and New Nicotine Alliance Chair Martin Cullip at a webinar to launch the # BackVapingSaveLives campaign in the UK .
