“You’re always going to end up with a better product when you have infl uence from people who have experienced so many different products and are passionate about the industry.” A: Topside Dual Carbon from The Vapor Chronicles and Dovpo. A bloody functional product with stellar design. Q: You’ve had the opportunity to attend quite a few vaping events in your time, which has been the most memorable for you and why? A: Without hesitation that’d be Hall of Vape in Stuttgart this year. It was such a fantastically well-organised show with an amazing collection of vendors. There were more punters than I’d ever seen with a super warm, community feel. I can’t wait to go back next year. mods, rebuildable atomisers and high wattage vaping. What draws you to these things? A: I guess I just enjoy the way an unregulated mod feels - the way the coils ramp up compared to a regulated mod. I’m a sucker for the look and feel of raw metals too. Q: Along with the Bonza, Bonza 1.5 and Bonza Mech, you helped Vandy Vape fi ne tune the Jackaroo Kit. How was this different, when compared with being part of the design process from the ground up? A: The Bonza line was my baby from conception. I was very active, I’m sure at times Vandy Vape would have said bloody annoyingly so, in every stage. For the Jackaroo I played an editorial role, tweaking Vandy’s existing design. There is a huge sense of responsibility and almost vulnerability when you put something you’ve created out there, like the Bonza line and hope that everyone loves it as much as you do. There wasn’t that stress with the Jackaroo. I’m certainly happy to hang my hat on all of them. Q: Now that you have several hardware projects under you belt, has it changed your approach or perspective during reviews? A: No, it hasn’t changed anything but it has given me a greater insight into how a product is designed, developed and brought to market. Q: Aside from your own designs, which are your favourite products that have come from collaborations between manufacturers and creators and why? Q: If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one full set up and e-liquid with you, what would you choose? A: Blotto RTA, Kennedy Vindicator and my own Duck’s Nuts by Bogan Brews. Q: Product collaborations between reviewers and manufacturers are now a staple of the industry. Do you think this is a good thing for consumers? A: Of course. You’re always going to end up with a better product when you have influence from people who have experienced so many different products and are passionate about the industry, Q: Do you have any pet peeves when it comes to hardware designs? If so, how would you fi x them? A: I can’t stand propriety drip tips. It’s 510, 810 or it’s nothing. Q: Your latest project, the Blotto RTA, was designed in collaboration with Dovpo. What made you decide to work with a new manufacturer and was it a different experience to working with Vandy Vape? A: I’ve always intended to work with multiple manufacturers. It is all about the right manufacturer for the right product at the right time. Dovpo is a smaller company so I have direct contact with the directors streamlining the design process. Q: Now that you have a full e-liquid line and several hardware releases to your name, what’s next? Any projects on the horizon that you can tell us about? A: Got some super exciting collaborations coming up but right now they’re all hush hush. You’ll have to stay tuned to my YouTube channel for more details. VM25 231
