N F E R REVIEWS H Z Fuel - 01’OG Z Fuel - 03’Citron Freeze Zap!’s caffeinated Z Fuel range takes inspiration from popular energy drinks. And if you’ve ever enjoyed a certain green energy drink, you’ll immediately know what this one is emulating. I’m not quite sure how Zap! have done it, but OG perfectly replicates the flavour. This is bold, fruity and sweet. This is a mixed candy fruit profi le, so those looking for a more natural fruit will be best served by other Zap! offerings, but if you’ve ever had the urge to vape your favourite energy drink, OG is the frontrunner by a country mile. The intense Citron Freeze is one of the most bright and bold lemon profi les I’ve ever tried. The sweetness and sticky mouthfeel are backed up by a satisfying combination of bitterness and tartness that truly brings the profi le to life. The intensity of the flavour may be off-putting for some, but those who like a blend that incorporates both lemonade and natural lemon zest will enjoy it greatly. The mix is fi nished with a mild dose of coolant, making for a light and moreish vape. The top note is a full-bodied candy guava, with a dense mouthfeel and plenty of sweetness that lingers on the palate long after vaping. This is contrasted by a mild and authentic grapefruit note that adds a substantial tart fi nish to the profi le without detracting from its sweetness. The balance of these opposing flavours has been struck very nicely and for this reason I found myself continually going back to Pink Punch. This is a fantastic fruit profi le. Cinnamon OG Custard The top note here is a light but authentic cinnamon spice. This is different from the sweeter confectionary cinnamon usually found in e-liquids and is more reminiscent of the rich, full-bodied cinnamon you would expect from a cinnamon stick. It doesn’t dominate the mix, though, and quickly gives way to the same rich custard base found in OG custard, minus the caramel. There are still traces of a cake batter element, though they are more reserved in this case. Another fantastic custard profi le. It’s very hard to stand out from the crowd with a custard profi le in 2019, so how does this one fare? The mysterious top note tastes like a syrupy brown sugar caramel. It’s decadent and sticky but not overbearing. This gives way to a rich vanilla custard base that stands toe-to-toe with the very best on the market, with mild dairy and egg notes. The profi le is fi nished with some light bakery notes, reminiscent of cake batter, which further boost the texture and complexity of this custard. A must-try for dessert fans. Outstanding. VG/PG Ratio: 75/25 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Banana VG/PG Ratio: 75/25 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild VG/PG Ratio: 75/25 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild All too often, banana comes off as foam candy in e-liquid mixes, but what about in this offering? The top note here is a creamy natural banana. Again, The King’s Collection distinguish themselves from other manufacturers with superior ingredient selection. The banana note is slightly less ripe than I would prefer but I’m impressed with how authentic it is. This is supported by the same custard base found in the rest of the King’s Custard range, though in this case it seems to pack in more dairy notes, which pair nicely with the banana. 210 VM25
