REVIEWS REVIEW BY BENEDICT ‘NED’ JONES Buzz Cola Citrus Charge Lightning Tart VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with tingle compound VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with tingle compound and cooling VG/PG ratio: 70/30 Additional sweetener: Minimal Throat hit: Mild, with tingle compound Vornagain broke into the vaping scene with their Headcandy sweet billed as a solution to vapers’ tongue. Their signature tingle compound is now being used in e-liquids. Buzz Cola’s top note is moderately sweet and authentic. Many cola e-liquids have a heavy candy tang, but this one has a touch more depth, providing some of the notes you would expect from an organic cola soft drink. This is supported by some sweeter cola bottle candy notes with a sticky mouthfeel. The profile is finished with Vornagain’s strange tingle compound. A few seconds after vaping, you’ll feel your mouth tingle and have a lingering sour aftertaste. A unique cola vape. 212 | VM23 9 Volt describe Citrus charge as a blend of orange and lime with their signature tingle compound. The Candy lime top note brings a familiar sticky sweetness to the mix with hints of a more natural zesty sharpness. This is supported by a moderately strong candy orange, which helps brighten up the profile and provides some juicy mouthfeel to counter the sticky lime. The tingle compound works wonderfully with this profile, adding a sour tang and fizzy sensation that makes Citrus Charge feel like a true beverage e-liquid. The profile is finished with a mild coolant, making for a refreshing, tangy beverage vape. This was my personal favourite of the bunch and I feel that beverage profiles with coolant are the best application for that tingle compound. Lemon tart e-liquid is one of the most popular profiles in the UK, so does 9 Volt’s offering stand out from the crowd? The sweet lemon curd top note is a touch softer than in other lemon tart recipes. It brings a bright sweetness to the mix without overpowering the other layers. This is supported by a rich dairy base which has a moderately strong butter note, providing a decadent mouthfeel and some sweeter vanilla cream notes which work nicely with the lemon curd. A bakery accent joins the creams for a slightly darker sweetness that sells this as a lemon tart. The tingle compound accentuates the lemon top note with its lingering sourness.
