REVIEWS REVIEW BY BENEDICT ‘NED’ JONES Tank Specifications: Dimensions: 25 x 43mm (widest point 28.5mm with bubble glass) Materials: Stainless steel + glass E-liquid capacity: 5ml Drip tip: 810 fitting - Great all-round performance - Good coil longevity - Build quality - No lock on the top fill Famovape seem to have come out of nowhere and already have some very solid releases under their belt. The Fat Baby Mesh tank was their first notable product and at the time it was one of the best mesh tanks in an emerging field. The mesh arena has only become more competitive and the Vector is a larger tank that clearly aims to compete with some household names such as the Geekvape Alpha and Freemax Mesh Pro, so is it worth checking out? The first thing I noticed about the Vector is that it’s a marked improvement in build quality when compared to Famovape’s older tank. The Fat Baby Mesh was by no means poor in this sense, but the Vector feels sturdier and is certainly comparable to more well-established manufacturers’ offerings. The tolerances here are spot on, with the sliding top fill mechanism and airflow control rings both having a satisfying resistance, without feeling too stiff. Although the top fill is nice and firm, it would have been nice to see a locking feature, since these mechanisms tend to loosen up over time. The airflow inlets on the Vector are ludicrously large. I found it far too airy for me wide open but closing the ring down doesn’t cause any turbulence or noise issues, so this just means more versatility. Two mesh coils are included with the tank and I must admit they appear to be modelled on the Freemax Mesh Pro, meaning that they are huge. This extra space allows for massive surface area mesh screens and giant wicking ports, both of which lend themselves to high wattage performance. The single core mesh coil has a rather large bore and normally this means a loud vape, but for whatever reason this is not the case here. With the airflow set at approximately half open, the single coil provides a smooth and dense vape at around 75W and it’s no slacker when it comes to flavour or vapour output. The longevity of this coil is nice too, likely owing to the substantial wicking ports, I was easily able to run 80ml of moderately sweet e-liquid through this coil before noticing a substantial drop in performance. The dual mesh coil is probably what most people are interested in. Multi-core mesh coil-heads are now the gold standard of high wattage stock coil vaping, and in recent times this has been exemplified by HorizonTech, Geekvape and Freemax tanks. Famovape’s dual mesh coil stands toe-to-toe with all of these. It’s an even smoother vape than the single mesh, and of course with more coils it can handle more heat, which in this case results in even better flavour and vapour production. Longevity is also fantastic, the dual mesh coil blasted through over 100mls of moderately sweet e-liquid before performance declined. Running the dual coil at 90W will of course guzzle e-liquid, but if you’re looking at tanks of this class, that comes with the territory. 160 | VM22
