DIARY
OF A VAPER
Featuring Danny Jenkins aka Danny Spice Vapes
“I wanted to work in the vaping industry because vape shops have a similar
community feel and atmosphere to record shops in the 90s and 00s”
I started smoking at 12 or 13. After only a few weeks I was
buying a 20-deck of B&H Gold on a Friday night and getting
through it a couple of hours. I used to chain smoke all day
long.
I started working in record shops around 2003. Back then, it
was normal to smoke in the shop. It got to a point where I just
hated it. I eventually found vaping but the device I had wasn’t
great and I would always run out when I was down the pub
and end up smoking again.
After that I moved onto record distribution companies.
I started my own label which was easy for me to do as I
had all the right contacts. I cut out the middleman and got a
distribution deal.
I put a lot of work into the music industry but eventually lost
my passion for it. With having children, it was taking up
a bit too much of my personal time. I’ve had mental health
problems and it wasn’t the right environment for me to be in.
Too much alcohol and other things that aren’t good for you.
When the Cool Fire came out I managed to quit smoking
totally. It took me away from drinking in a massive way,
especially once I started using mech mods and drippers where
there’s more work involved in looking after them. It soon became
a hobby.
My mental illness peaked in 2014 at a launch party for my
new record. I just felt so disconnected. I was djing, the place

was packed but I just didn’t care. It was like I was on the
outside looking in. From that night on I realised that it wasn’t
for me.
I wanted to work in the vaping industry because vape shops
have a similar community feel and atmosphere to record
shops in the 90s and 00s. DJs would come in with records
they bought elsewhere and chill out and listen to demos of
each other’s work. Now our customers build and share their
home brews.
I’ve been getting into product photography and seem to have
a bit of a knack for it. After telling Asmodus my plans they
agreed to take the chance in sponsoring me. I think my music
background showed them that I throw everything I have into
making my projects work.
I use my Instagram account to show different things than just
the usual parade of mods and e-liquids. I now also manage
Vape & Juice in Enfield and will be looking after the shop
Instagram. I want to put as much love and work into their
Instagram as I do my own.
I’ve got an idea for my own e-liquid brand with a hip-hop
edge. I can’t say the name yet as nothing’s finalised but keep
an eye on my social media in the coming months to find out
more.
