REVIEWS REVIEW BY BENEDICT ‘NED’ JONES Blueberry Donut VG/PG ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Cinnamon Apple Crumble VG/PG ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Lemon Drizzle Cake VG/PG ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Donut is a notoriously hard profile to get right in e-liquid form, so how does this offering from Mix Juice fare? This is a well-balanced blend, without a single dominant flavour. The top note here is a jam-like blueberry, which brings a pleasant tartness, along with some natural florals to the mix. This is supported by a mild, creamy vanilla. This is reminiscent of the glaze found on a donut and amplifies the sweetness of the mix further. Things are rounded off with a substantial bakery base note which adds an almost fluffy connotation to the profile. This works well to layer the blueberry and vanilla notes, though I'm not sure I'd single it out as a donut specifically. Nonetheless, this is a solid bakery blend that many will enjoy. Another bakery staple from the Mix Juice team. It's hard to go wrong with a cinnamon and apple blend and this one doesn't disappoint. The top note is a mellow, warm baked apple. It has a soft sweetness that you'd expect in the context of crumble but isn't syrupy or too sticky. This is supported by a moderately sweet bakery note which does a good job of adding some substance to the mix, without making things too heavy. The cinnamon note is really more of an accent than a prominent feature. It still adds some intrigue, but I would have liked it to be slightly more present. Overall, this is a rather light dessert vape that will be great for those who enjoy confectionery flavours but dislike overpoweringly sweet mixes. Lemon bakery profiles have always been incredibly popular in the UK vaping community. It can be tough to balance the sharp citrus with sweeter bakery notes, though, so how does this attempt compare to its competitors? There is definitely more of a focus on the lemon element here than is found in other, similar profiles. It’s by far the most prominent note and is quite multifaceted. The top note is a natural lemon, which brings plenty of sharpness and zest to the profile. This is blended with a much sweeter lemon note, reminiscent of the titular lemon drizzle. This makes for a very authentic top note. The lemon is supported by a light cake base, which does a good job of boosting the sweetness of the profile and adding some weight to it. This is a well-done lemon bakery profile. Coconut Puff Puff VG/PG ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Gummy Cola VG/PG ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Described by Mix Juice as a Coconut Macaroon, Coconut Puff Puff is quite an ambitious e-liquid, since it attempts to replicate such a delicate profile. A strong desiccated coconut is the dominant flavour here. It’s authentic and brings a very distinctive milky sweetness to the blend. I personally would have liked to see more of a natural take on this top note, but that is subjective. The coconut is supported by a light meringue base, which brings some additional sweetness to the profile, along with a boost to the thickness of the mouth- feel. There also seems to be a mild vanilla accent which complements the rest of the blend nicely. This is a solid coconut profile, ideal for those looking for a simple dessert vape. Gummy Cola is a very simple profile from Mix Juice. When things are this stripped back, ingredient selection is key, so does it work in this case? The top note is a moderately sweet candied cola. This is spot on to the sweet shop nostalgia that the manufacturer describes. It’s a little lighter than I would have preferred, but those looking for a mellow candy vape will be pleased with this choice. The cola is supported by a mild gummy candy base which adds a sticky texture to the profile without making things overly sweet. Gummy Cola is certainly true to life, but it must be noted that it is on the milder end of the candy spectrum. Those looking for a super simple e-liquid may well enjoy this. Raspberry Custard VG/PG ratio: 80/20 Additional sweetener: Moderate Throat hit: Mild Many vapers judge a new e-liquid company by the quality of its custard offerings. Mix Juice have chosen to keep it simple with their take on the classic dessert, but does it work? This is another well balanced profile from Mix Juice. Raspberry is the more prominent flavour and it takes centre stage without becoming overly sweet or cloying. Instead, it comes across as a baked raspberry often found in confectionery, bringing a pleasant dark sweetness and sticky mouth-feel to the mix. There's also a very mild hint of natural tartness, which provides additional authenticity. This is supported by a light vanilla custard base. This is less eggy than some other custards, but this is not a problem, since the warm vanilla and creaminess support the raspberry top note nicely. A stripped back but satisfying dessert blend. 184 | VM20
