REVIEWS REVIEW BY BENEDICT ‘NED’ JONES Drizzle Kit Device Specifications: Dimensions: 97mm x 33.3mm x 23.3mm (including atomiser) Battery capacity: Internal 1400mAh cell Power output: 7-40W Charging: Micro-USB, 1A Tank capacity: 1.8ml Mainstream vaping devices seem to be getting smaller by the day. In recent months, this has been accomplished by transitioning over to newer designs, such as flash-drive-esque pod systems with tiny internal batteries, optimised for maximum nicotine strength. Vaporesso have chosen to take a slightly different approach with the Drizzle Kit. It looks like a traditional MTL starter kit that’s been hit by a shrink ray, and the result is an ultra-portable stealth vape that’s slightly more versatile than it looks. The build quality of the Drizzle Kit is quite impressive for its tiny size and low price point. It’s unfair to expect top of the line materials from a device like this, but it certainly feels more solid than many of its peers. This is of course a very light device, but it doesn’t feel cheap or easily breakable. There are no obvious points of failure on the chassis and it’s already survived a fair few knocks during testing as a secondary device. - Tiny size - Regulated power output - Simple operation Despite only having one button, there is some adjustment available with this kit. Vaporesso’s Omni Board Mini, which powers the Nexus and Zero pod systems is found here too. This allows the user to cycle between 7W, 9W or 13W of regulated power with three clicks. This may not seem like a huge variation, but in the MTL world of micro-coils, this can be the difference between a cool or warm vape experience. It’s also nice to have consistent power output from the device, where many other mini mods simply output the remaining voltage of the internal cell. The Omni Board Mini is also able to detect sub-ohm coils down to a resistance of 0.3ohms, and at this point the chipset switches to direct output, allowing for up to 40W of power. I thought this impossible from such a tiny cell, but when I installed an RDA, with a 0.3ohm build, it supplied adequate power, albeit for a very short time. - Sub-ohm capability Battery life is respectable. At 13W I got just shy of a day’s use out of the Drizzle Kit, with 20mg e-liquid. Your mileage may vary of course, but with 1A charging, you won’t have to worry too much about downtime, since the mod charges from flat to full in hour or so. MTL The bundled Drizzle tank is designed with bare bones MTL vaping in mind, but it does its job well. It’s at the very least on par with pod system coils and when using 20mg salt nicotine e-liquid you’ll get a rather satisfying vape. The Drizzle has a fool proof top fill system with integrated top airflow control, which gives the user a bit of choice when it comes to restriction. Overall, the Drizzle Kit does a fair job at providing a stealthy MTL vape. If you want to save a bit of money on pods, don’t mind changing out your own coils and prefer consistent power output, this could well be a solid option for you. 168 | VM20
