EVENTS BY PATRICK GRIFFIN VAPEXPO LAS VEGAS. LAS VEGAS CONVENTION CENTER, NOVEMBER 9-10 We had clearly booked to attend a vape expo but all the signs outside the convention featured images of guns. It turned out that there was a gun convention taking place at the same venue but we bypassed that and found out where we needed to be. Our show was really two shows in one - VapExpo Las Vegas and CBD.io - and they complemented each other very well indeed. It was a more glitzy affair than the Miami show the previous day but both were equally enjoyable. Friday was the business-to-business day while the Saturday was for both trade and consumers. This was a truly international event with companies from the US, Europe and Asia all well represented. IVG were giving out goody bags as we entered with one of the vape models telling me: “Be sure so stop by the IVF stand… Oh my God! I’m so sorry. I mean IVG not IVF.” I did stop by and say hi to the guys at IVG as well as Vape Dinner Lady and many other exhibitors I knew and recognised. It was also great so see so many new faces as making connections is what it is all about. blu had a huge presence at this expo with an absolutely massive stand which could not be missed. One of the talking points at their stand was a huge painting from world famous artist Carson Grier, which had been created live on stage on the Saturday. On closer inspection it was made up of many hundreds of blu pod devices and, for me, this was the stand out feature of the blu presence at the show. The CBD element of the expo featured product manufacturers of every category in hemp showcasing 142 | VM20 their latest innovations and products. There was everything from CBD products for pets, to health care products and beauty products as well as CBD-based vape products. I was also very pleased to catch up with David Goerlitz who is now a big name in the CBD industry. When I first met David a few years back he was still known as the former Winston Man but he has managed to reinvent himself as a leading - and often outspoken - voice in the CBD world as he seeks to spread the message of the benefits of these products. He has teamed up with industry leaders Pinnacle CBD which had a steady stream of visitors to their stand throughout the two days. I can tell that this is a collaboration which is sure to do big things. It was great to see that the CBD side of things contain people who are just as passionate about their products as the vapers are. This is one of the reasons that these are two industries which are a natural fit for each other. We had a stand at the show both for Vapouround Magazine and The Vapouround Club and it was great to spend time at that stand and meet so many people who wanted to find out more about what we do. A huge thanks to everybody who took time to say ‘hi’ to us and to the VapExpo team who put on another very successful event. Here’s to the next one.
