In the three years of editing Vapouround, I’d say I’ve maybe written two hardware reviews. Every now and then something comes along that catches my eye and this is exactly what happened with the Valyrian tank by Uwell. I’m a basic vaper. Although I’ve been vaping for three years and it has become a passion, I would call myself an intermediate. I can’t be bothered or don’t have the time or inclination to make my own coils – I can’t even be bothered using devices that don’t have an internal battery. For me, it’s easier to carry two mods and switch the tank than carry spare batteries, chargers, building gear and the rest. None of that interests me. I want to get the best flavour the easiest way possible and that’s what works for me. So my set up has generally been the 80 watt iStick Power from Eleaf UK, or lately it’s been the Eleaf iKuu i200 topped off with a Smok big baby beast tank. Both run between a 4400-milliamp battery and a 5000-milliamp battery meaning you usually get a full day vape running at 50 – 60 watts. My point is this has been an easy, convenient set up for me. It requires no thought or skill, it’s quick and simple and the most complicated part is changing the coil, which anyone could do. This has been my set-up of choice for at least two years. Until last month, that is. Someone asked me if I had tried Uwell’s Valyrian tank. I was told it was incredible and that the taste of the juice was so much better. As for the coils, I was reliably informed they last about three weeks. I thought, ‘yeah right.’ “GET ME A COUPLE OF THESE WONDER TANKS” I was intrigued as to what this Game of Thrones ultimate sword tank was going to do for my set-up. At present the Smok tank runs a Smok V8 coil or the T coil, which depending on which juice I’m vaping can last anywhere between 24 hours and five days if I’m lucky. The flavour is great on the baby beast and I just accepted that I had to regularly change coils and although expensive, it was convenient, so I did it. I said, ‘get me a couple of these wonder tanks and I’ll try them.’ Anyone who knows me knows that I very rarely try new hardware, I’m a simple person and I like to stick to what I know. A week later I was presented with two of these tanks. So, I primed up my coil and attached my tank to my iKuu i200 and set it to 70 watts. He was right, the taste was incredible. I had never tasted the juice I vape so flavoursome in the two years I had been vaping it. I was very impressed. A week went by and still the flavour was the same even with no change of coil. I was onto a winner, as this outlasted the Smok coils by at least two days. Two weeks later and it was still the same, no change of coil, same amazing flavour. I couldn’t believe it. It was about two days after this when the flavour started to change and there was a very slight burnt taste. I knew the amazing long-lasting coil was on its way out, but two weeks and two days – that’s amazing! I changed it instantly, whereas with the Smok coils I would have tried to wait a bit to save some money. With this I knew that I would get another one in and it would last at least two more weeks, which is a total bonus. My coil bill could now go down from about £50 per month to £10 per month giving me extra money for new hardware or juice. I would recommend anyone to try this tank especially if you want to save money on coils. VM17 | 203
