HOW TO STAY
RELEVANT IN A
COMPETITIVE
E-LIQUID
LANDSCAPE
JAC Vapour’s Communications Director,
Emma Logan, discusses the challenges
and opportunities in the e-liquid segment
of the market.
Did you have to alter your e-liquid range to
comply with the TPD?
If you’re referring to only selling e-liquid in 10ml bottles, doing away
with any strengths over 20mg and ensuring full CLP compliance –
yes, like all other law abiding companies / retailers, we did.
It wasn’t too much of an issue as we had been working down to
D-day with a considered plan for almost a year. The only thing
we wanted to make sure was that our customers knew what was
happening and why. No-one likes change and especially if you’re
a vaper that keeps your range very tight, any change can be
detrimental. In the main, we haven’t seen a downturn in sales or
fewer returning customers.
How has the change in bottle size affected you?
The change in the size of bottles, which, in our opinion, is one of
the more ludicrous of the TPD laws, was, and still is, a difficult
one for vapers.
No-one wants to carry around a back pack of tiny e-liquid bottles
every day, it doesn’t really make any sense.
However, we thought ahead, and we have an Easy Mix range,
picNIC (launched in early 2016) which allows customers to
mix their own Nic base choices with their own chosen flavour
concentrate into a 50ml bottle to ensure those who like to carry
around bigger bottles can; in this post-TPD world.
