8 ISSUE 12 VAPOUROUND MAGAZINE
W
elcome to a very special edition
of Vapouround Magazine - our
two year anniversary issue. I spent
some time this week just looking over our
back issues and it brought into focus just
how much has happened over these past
24 months. Obviously the biggest thing to
happen to the industry has been the TPD
and the new regulatory framework has seen
some companies fall by the wayside while
others have grown and flourished. There have
been companies which were not even around
when the first Vapouround issue came off the
presses and they are now big players on the
international vaping scene.
But there are many smaller things - everyday
things - which I would argue are just as
important to our industry as the big regulatory
matters which make the headlines. Looking
over our back issues there are stories about
ordinary men and women who have one
thing in common…vaping has been the only
thing that has allowed them to quit smoking.
I should know because I am one of those
people and the positive difference vaping
has played in these people’s lives cannot be
understated. To have the privilege of working
in an industry which is playing a beneficial
part in people’s lives by allowing them the
freedom of being addicted to cigarettes is
something which brings me joy every day.
It makes me angry when I see regulation -
such as ill-conceived advertising bans on
vaping products - which serves to prevent the
message getting to smokers that there is a
much safer alternative to smoking out there.
In this issue we report on the findings of
the latest statical bulletin from the Office
of National Statistics which examines adult
smoking habits in the UK.
One thing really leapt out at me from this
report was that the most common reason
people gave for using e-cigarettes was as an
aid to stop smoking.
This is something that is widely known in the
vaping community and it is great to see this
mentioned in an official government report.
We will continue to play our part in spreading
the message about the positive impact
that vaping has on so many lives and as the
industry grows and evolves, we look forward to
reporting on the changes and developments
which will take place over the next two years
and beyond.
