Q&A - Vape Organic like Kind Juice
In our last issue, Vapouround Magazine
caught up with the award-winning
organic e-liquid company Kind Juice,
based in South Florida, USA. We
decided to hook up again with cofounders, Imani and JD to discuss their
all-organic lifestyle and how they turned
their idea into a unique business.
VM: How did you get the background and
skills necessary to run your business?
KJ: We are both artistic visionaries.
Being able to have an idea and capture
it is a truly fascinating journey.
Some skills you obtain through study
and experience, while others you learn
from focused trial and error. Knowledge
about plants and their abilities is wisdom
we deeply value. This combined with our
abilities allowed for us to discover and
continue to learn new skills that
we applied to Kind Juice.
VM: Do you yourself vape; are you an
ex-smoker?
KJ: Vape yes. Smoke no. We started
vaping out of a necessity to develop and
constantly refine our process. I enjoy
the spice of a low 1.5mg vape and after
all these years, I still haven’t developed
any nicotine dependence. Imani mainly
vapes during flavour development times
which can take up to a year to perfect.
We’ll vape out of so many different tanks
and set ups in order to experience our
creations from different perspectives.
VM: Tell us more about your
organic e-juices?
KJ: We have developed three
contrasting product lines. The first is
our Nectar Line (multi-use, tailored
for beginner to experienced users.)
Second is sub ELEMENT our E Gel
Collection (complex flavours, sub-ohm,
tailored for experienced users). Third
is our most recent release TOBACCO
RIDGE N.E.T. (naturally extracted
tobaccos, tailored for pipe and tobacco
aficionados.) As organic gardeners, we
impart permaculture and biodynamic
techniques. A strawberry plant that was
sprouted and organically grown, cut, and
served fresh is so vibrant and filled with
pure photons from the sun.
When you eat plants like this you feel
amazing! The sense of connection is
so profound once you realize how our
bodies have coevolved with so many
different plant species enabling our
immune systems to instinctively know
how to use plants to unlock our full
genetic potential.
VM: Where do you make
your e-juices?
KJ: Proudly made in South Florida,
USA. We have a traditional facility where
cutting edge techniques are used that
age and steep the extractions in various
methods the way nature intended. Our
proprietary process can take more than
6 months for a single batch to mature.
Each batch is delicately hand crafted in
small batches. Also, we have a lot of rich
culture in South Florida, being so close
to Cuba, tobacco is a big part of culture.
We are humbled that we get to help the
community by hiring locals and sharing
knowledge. Viva La Libertad!
VM: How are the organic standards set?
KJ: We have always both been very
interested in increasing our vitality
and improving our health. Imani being
obsessed with eating only the purest
nature had to offer, she began reading
ingredient labels and researching food
additives around 10 years ago. We
learned that there are so many unknown
chemicals in the products on the market
today. We even learned about the many
different levels of "natural" that some
products claim and even get away with
every day. For this reason, we built our
reputation on transparency, honesty, and
never taking shortcuts. Before it was
even standard to do so, we believed in
publishing our ingredients, lab tests, and
using child safe packaging. It was very
unusual at the time and I’d like to think
that we started a discussion amongst
vaporists. The decision to go natural or
organic is one that usually accompanies
a consciousness that is continuously
evolving. We have a saying “We never
want to be the biggest, just the best!”
