REVIEWS REVIEW BY BENEDICT JONES NITRO 200W SPECS: Battery capacity: 2x18650 cells Power output: 5W-200W Modes: Power, Temperature Control (Ni200, SS, Ti1), Bypass, Preheat Charging: Micro-USB PROS - GREAT FOR THE PRICE - RESPONSIVE AND RELIABLE CHIP - VERY COMFORTABLE IN THE HAND CONS - NOT THE SMOOTHEST TEMPERATURE CONTROL EXPERIENCE Rev-Tech is still the new kid on the vape block. With such a wealth of devices now available on the market, what does this fledgling company bring to the table? The Nitro 200W is an interesting mod that should be getting your attention for more than just its unique motorsport aesthetic. Coming in at the affordable end of the hardware spectrum, the Nitro 200W feels very solid in the hand. It’s not the smallest dual 18650 device out there, but it’s by no means oversized either. The smooth curve of the back, and smart fire button placement make this device a joy to use. Every button gives a satisfying click with each press, and there’s no rattle or unwanted play in the construction to speak of. 70 | VMC The menu system on the Rev-Tech chipset has been well thought out for both advanced vapers and newer users. When setting up the device for the first time, you are presented with the option of either “Basic User” or “Advanced User.” Choosing basic will lock away the more complex settings, leaving you with a streamlined wattage only experience, which will suit those who are newer to vaping and help avoid confusion. Selecting the advanced option will open up the myriad settings and options that are under the hood of this device. More and more hardware companies are marketing their devices as having no delay between pressing the fire button and power being supplied to the atomiser. The Rev Nitro is one of few devices to truly back up this claim. Wattage output is smooth and instantaneous and makes the whole experience very satisfying. Even high mass builds with very low resistances fire up quickly on the nitro, which is more than can be said for other devices in the same price category, when pushed to their limits. Aside from the pure wattage options, the Nitro also has a wealth of more complex settings, allowing advanced users to tailor the vaping experience to their hearts’ content. The temperature control functions work well but are perhaps not the smoothest I’ve used. The occasional resistance jump is slightly disconcerting, but not to the extent that it noticeably affected my experience. Pre-heat adjustment allows the user to dial in the initial boost of power to the atomiser. It’s not a feature I’ve ever had much use for, but if you regularly use large, power hungry builds, you’ll find the slight boost at the start of your vape a nice bonus. For even more adventurous users, there is also a bank of custom TCR settings that can be used with more obscure wire materials. This will demand attention to detail and a good understanding of the material you’re using but is a nice addition nonetheless. Battery life on the Nitro is also good. I found that two 3,000 mAh 18650’s on a full charge would last me approximately a-day-and- a-half of vaping at 50W, which is more efficient than some other dual 18650 devices I’ve tested. Overall, the Rev-Tech Nitro 200W is an absolute powerhouse of a device for something so reasonably priced. Its sturdy construction and super quick power delivery make it a fantastic option for a workhorse mod. Some people may not be a fan of the aesthetic, but you can’t argue with great performance.
