Hello there and welcome to this preview edition
of Vapouround Canada!
Vapouround Magazine was founded three years
ago across the pond and has grown substantially
to become not only the UK and Ireland’s leading
vape trade publication but so much more. We
have a global presence and there is no where
we wouldn’t travel to for this industry. On this side
of the Atlantic, we aim to further our message by
supporting Canada’s industry leaders and up-
and-coming brands. Having witnessed first-hand
the exponential growth and success of the vape
industry in the UK and Europe, we recognize this
exciting time in Canada and we’re diving in head-
first to be a part of it.
Vapouround Canada is one such opportunity we
have wanted to launch for a while and now the
timing is finally right.
You see, what the Canadian industry is going
through now, we went through in 2017. Exactly
one year and two days after the European Union
formally implemented the Tobacco Products
Directive (TPD) in May last year, Canadians woke
up to the Tobacco and Vaping Products Act.
For us, the TPD presented challenges, worries
and for some companies it created panic and a
lot of time spent looking in the mirror.
More than a year into the regulation, the cream
has risen to the top and consumers are only
vaping the highest quality e-liquids which have
been guaranteed and tested.
Overall, it’s been a good news story for our
industry and the UK is now one of the leading
forces of the e-cigarette business world-wide.
While there have been mixed reactions to the
Tobacco and Vaping Products Act (TVPA), we like
to focus on the positive. Toronto, for example, is
soon to get the first vape-only condominiums
where residents will not be allowed to smoke
traditional cigarettes.
Like Public Health England in the UK, Health
Canada has publicly acknowledged that vaping is
a less harmful alternative to smoking.
Also similar to our HQ, e-liquids containing nicotine
will now be legal and accessible to adult smokers
looking to transition to quit and can eventually part
with nicotine forever thanks to vaping.
Unlike in the UK, e-cigarettes are now permitted
for mainstream media advertisements here, albeit
with restrictions. Nevertheless, that is a major
step for the industry.
Of course, there will be challenges – as with
every new Act to come into force, there is always
a period of change.
We know the way people advertise and market
their products will be changing now too. A lot of the
advertisements you see in this preview issue will
continue to appear in coming issues, but we will
be implementing the necessary changes as per
the new Act. As the industry evolves, we’ll evolve
alongside it.
With new research emerging constantly in favour
of vaping, the only way is up.
See you in August,
