Did you know that at the beginning of 2012, quitting smoking was the fourth most popular New Year’s resolution in the United States? It makes sense—people often use the beginning of a new year to try and change themselves for the better. Weight loss, exercise and dieting are all other common goals for someone with a positive outlook on the New Year. However, like dieting and exercise, quitting smoking is something that can fall to the wayside quite quickly… only an estimated 15% of everyone who sets out to stop smoking ever makes it to the end of the year. Even worse, many people set out the next year with the same goal as the previous one, only to come up short again.\r\n\r\nThe problem can’t be 45 million people who want to achieve a common goal. In fact, the problem is usually a combination of variables that slowly break a person down, until their goal seems worthless and they simply resort to having the cigarette that they long for. And, until now, there’s been very little going for someone who’s trying to quit: conventional patches, gums or just quitting cold turkey coming up short.\r\n\r\nTechnically, according to the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA), electronic cigarettes are not a smoking cessation device: meaning they’re not approved to help you quit smoking. But, ask any long term smoker turned vaper and you’ll hear a very different story. For many of these people, eCigarettes and eLiquid are the only thing that worked for them in any capacity. The simulation of smoking, complete with the oral fixation and ability to regulate their own nicotine levels, has helped countless people kick their old pack to the curb in favor of this smoking alternative.\r\n\r\nI, nor Vaping Press as a whole, make no medical claims about electronic cigarettes; we do, however, ask that you listen to the testimonials of vapers from around the world and make an informed decision for yourself. If your New Year’s resolution this year is to kick your smoking habit for good: approach it from a different angle than you may have in the past. Thanks to the growing number of vaping communities out there and the support within these forums, picking up an eCig versus caving in and having an analog cigarette is getting easier and easier to do.\r\n\r\nWhether you’re someone who has long since crumpled their pack and turned to a smoking alternative, or are someone who’s going to tackle the difficult task of kicking the habit this year, we invite you to take Vaping Press with you wherever you go and learn more about how eCigarettes and eLiquid could potentially help you on your journey to a healthier, happier self.\r\n\r\nHappy New Year and Happy Vaping,\r\n\r\nKyle Danowski\r\nEditor In-Chief\r\n
