VOOPOO VINCI By Benedict Jones
Specifi cations:
- Dimensions: 77mm*25mm*27mm

- E-liquid capacity: 5.5ml

VooPoo may have built their brand on sturdy, high-performance box
mods but in recent times they’ve changed their focus to the starter
market like many other manufacturers. The Vinci is their latest
beginner-friendly offering that straddles the line between AIO and
fully-fledged mod.
Construction, fi t and fi nish of the Vinci are excellent. Though
a relatively small AIO device, it feels robust in the hand, with a
reassuring, but practical, weight. Tolerances are tight, with minimal
seams and no rattles and the material choices are solid on the whole.
The pod is secured in place by four magnets, resulting in a very
strong connection, an important detail that is overlooked all too often.
In terms of user experience, the Vinci is simple but offers more
functionality than a basic pod system or AIO. Five clicks of the fi re
button power the device on/off and three clicks allow you to toggle
between three fi ring modes, auto, manual or a combination of the
two. This is a nice touch that allows for a range of preferences without
alienating anyone. My main gripe here is the lack of airflow control.
Airflow will naturally be changed by the inner bore of the coil but aside
from this, the only adjustability is flipping the pod 180 degrees, which
has little impact. I would like to see adjustable airflow implemented in
future batches of pods.
I’m particularly impressed with the puff counter functionality on offer
here, though. The number of puffs you’ve taken is displayed clearly
on the middle of the screen and automatically resets every 24 hours.
On top of this, holding the plus and minus buttons together reveals a
chart of how many puffs you’ve taken each day, over a 14-day period.
This is fantastic for users who wish to track their nicotine intake and
I would love to see this implemented on more devices.
Two coils are included with the Vinci and they provide distinct
experiences. The fi rst is a 0.3Ohm mesh coil, rated for 32W-40W. It
has great flavour output for such a small mesh coil and allows for a
restricted or semi-restricted direct lung vape, depending on your pod
orientation. Longevity is impressive here too and I was able to run
35mls of moderately sweet e-liquid through the coil before moving on
PROS
- Build quality
- Flavour output
- Coil longevity
- Replacement coils, not pods
- Good battery life
128 VAPER EXPO
CONS
- No adjustable airflow
to the other for testing. It was still going strong at this stage.
The second coil is a 0.8Ohm round wire build, rated for 12W-18W.
Flavour production and warmth of this coil are commendable but
the airflow on this coil will be disappointing for MTL fans who enjoy
a tight draw. This issue would be totally solved if the pod had an
adjustable airflow and it would also make the Vinci a must buy for
stock coil MTL vapers. Longevity was impressive again and I was
able to run 20ml of moderately sweet e-liquid through the coil before
it declined noticeably.
Battery life will depend on your choice of coil and power setting but
on the whole I have been impressed by the 1500mAh internal cell.
Using the mesh coil between 32W-40W, you can expect 3-4 hours of
moderate use, which is commendable for such a small device. The
0.8Ohm coil at 12W-18W will easily last a full day’s vaping and that
shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. The Vinci charges from flat to
full in 1.5hours, which is fi ne considering the run time.
In summary, the VooPoo Vinci has a lot going for it but falls just short
of being a must buy. If they can add true airflow adjustment to future
batches of pods, this will become my go to AIO system and will be the
one I recommend to new vapers.
