EDITORIAL NOTE WITH NTSIKI MIYA

The month of September has definitely come with a lot of revelations, that are both good and not so bad. In a month where we saw great things happening and many people in the entertainment world finding their happiness, I can take a chance and say that September 2019 was a good one.

This editorial note is basically about me updating you on the things I have encountered leading up to each issue of the magazine that I publish, and after returning from the winter break I had a solid schedule that was going to run smoothly in regards to publishing this magazine, but just days before I put the issue to bed and uploaded it things switched up, and that showed me that I can never say that I have figured this game out, because with every day that comes, I need to step up.

These few days started with giving me very little sleep, and as much as people thought I was playing when I said that I had accepted that a part of me is insane, and if diagnosed it might be discovered, but at the same time it is that part that has driven me to push the company so far because that is the part that comes with fearlessness and creativity and the courage I know I did not grow up with, and somehow it feeds from those sleepless nights I get either at the office working or running around Johannesburg gathering the content I need.

After finding myself in Braamfontein on the Wednesday before my publishing Monday, feeding off the energy of other entrepreneurs at the J&B Hive, I found myself back in Braamfontein for a night that went on till late with Ballantine’s and ended up at the office writing the article I was going to publish about it, after being told that the DSTV Delicious Fest Press Conference was at 10:30am the next morning, and jumping from that press conference to the Soundcheck sessions at Kyalami with Shekhinah and other artists, and to making a sharp turn back to the office on my way to another event to go prepare a pitch for three other brands I have been praying to work with after getting the go ahead from another one.

On Saturday I decided to make it some kind of family time by spending time my lady at the VW T-cross City event in Fourways, only to rush back to the office after leaving Fourways to polish some ideas, and wake up the next day going to DSTV Delicious Fest, and that is where my entire publishing schedule went off the rails. Though this day was also “family time”, I got news that I had to push back the publication date for because waiting a full 2 weeks to put this in the magazine was not going to do it any justice, it had to be out at least on the last day of September if I was pushing my luck…
