THE JOY IS IN JAZZ

Growing up we missed a lot of key elements that makes Jazz what it is simply because at a young age we don’t really understand the class that comes with this timeless music.

Getting a few years behind us and starting to understand music more makes understand and appreciate what Jazz represents, it makes us appreciate how Jazz makes us feel, we understand how Jazz changes and improves our thinking, not only musically, but personally too.

Being invited to an exclusive night that was designed and created to appreciate the men and women who contributed to what Jazz is today felt a bit heavy on me because even though I am in entertainment media, I’m far from even being called the student of Jazz music.

The key thing that I took from this evening is how education Jazz is as an “institute” in all music.

I have known about Joy of Jazz for a while, and not so long ago I got attend the Geleza Kleva workshop presented by Joy of Jazz, and that is where I realized that there are not many music genres that take time and put its emphasis on the educational element of the music industry, a genre that accommodates all other genres with ease like Jazz does. The foundation that was formed in me from the Geleza Kleva workshop was solid in my mind about what to expect from Jazz, especially in the ever changing world of music.

The addition of the Jazz Honors awards to my interaction with Joy Of Jazz grew me more closer to my curious about what is Jazz music, how does it impact lives, how does it change lives.
