PETRONAS together
with the National Department
for Culture and Arts under
the Ministry of Tourism and
Culture Malaysia, Penang Education Department and Universiti Sains Malaysia hosted
a cultural showcase of ghazal
parti, boria and ghazbo.
Performed by Persatuan Karyawan Pulau Pinang,
a PETRONAS Arts and Culture Grant recipient, the performance presents a unique
three-part combination of
ghazal parti, boria and ghazbo
accompanied by traditional
Malay music celebrating the
rich heritage of Penang.

Strategic Communications,
Norliza Kamaruddin said,
“Since the establishment of
the PETRONAS Performing
Arts Group in 1990, we have
awarded grants to various
performing arts groups. As of
2012, PETRONAS has contributed a total of RM4 million to
27 groups nationwide”.
“PETRONAS is committed in its role as a leading
patron of the arts to support,
create and promote visual
and performing arts as well as
classical music. The awardees
were carefully and diligently
selected representing all Malaysian genres,” added Norliza.
According to Persatuan Karyawan Pulau Pinang,
“The grant from PETRONAS
motivates us to continuously
attract the younger generation and enthusiasts of the
traditional dance to learn and
hone their skills, as well as to
encourage interest and develop new talent.”
The performance was
held at Dewan Budaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia and drew
a crowd of fans from Penang,
Kedah and Perak.
