MINORITY REPORT CONDOM TOM VIOLENCE HAS DEREGULATED: THE MUSLIMS DO IT, THE CHRISTIANS DO IT! I am angry. My dear Kaduna is on fire again. This time, it isn't a cartoon, or blasphemy, or elections. It was Christian boys going crazy over the bombing of churches. I refuse to use the word that newspapers are using. Reprisals. The word is simply too noble to describe the stupidity of the action. A reprisal requires some sort of target, some thought. Killing a man who is as afraid of bombs as you are isn't reprisal. Killing your neighbor or the guy you buy meat from isn't reprisal. That is just plain cowardly. It is like a man who beats his SAVE OUR CHILDREN FROM LEAD POISONING Bagega is reaching crisis point. This is not the first time we'll be having an outbreak of lead poisoning here. It started more than two and a half years after the lead poisoning disaster was first discovered. Sadly, hundreds of children are still awaiting critical medical treatment. MSF is ready and willing to treat these children, but cannot do so until their homes have been environmentally remediated. I think it's time to get the lead out of Bagega before we lose our children. By Emeka Okoh - Zamfara SPARK 10 wife because his boss shouted at him at work. It is like a child who kicks his dog because his mother made him wash his own socks. So now, violence has been deregulated. The Christians do it. The Muslims do it. By Elnathan John - Kaduna MAKOKO SLUMS ARE BEING DESTROYED IN LAGOS Can you imagine this? The authorities in Nigeria have started knocking down slum dwellings in Makoko built on the Lagos lagoon. As I write this, dozens of shacks built on stilts have been demolished. Though it is not clear whether all houses in the area are to be destroyed but I'm pretty sure a large percentage of the dwellers will be chased out and rendered homeless. A letter was served on residents last week, giving them 72 hours to vacate their properties not minding where they and their families would sleep. I saw men using machetes to chop down the stilts of the wooden homes, while police watched from nearby boats. The government cannot destroy people's homes without providing an alternative. This is a heartless decision! The Truth About Oral Sex Infection risk to what youths say about it. It is not possible for women to get pregnant from oral sex Neither by giving it nor receiving it. Sperm has to enter the vagina directly for women to get pregnant and does not have the same effect if swallowed during oral sex. So, any women out there who refrained from oral sex due to the fear of an unwanted pregnancy; fear no more! It is possible to get sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) from unprotected oral sex "C'mon now, oral sex isn't 'real sex' at all so how can I get STD's from it?" This is what most people really believe. But, the fact of the matter is that even without actual vaginal penetration, it is possible to contract diseases through oral sex. This means condoms for men and dental dams (women condoms) for the ladies. And don't worry; the condoms will not take away from the pleasures of the act. That's what all those chocolate, strawberry, and fruit flavoured condoms are for, aren't they! However, if you have just one sexual partner and you know they do not have any STD's, then it is safe to practice oral sex without using any precautions. If you and your partner do not have any STD's, then swallowing bodily fluids during oral sex does not pose any side effects. You will not start feeling sick or ill, medically speaking that is. Being forced into oral sex, or indulging in it simply to please your partner but not wanting to do it can leave you feeling sick. Basically, unless you're 100% sure about the sexual exploits of your partner, practice PROTECTED oral sex. VITAL SIGNS You Have A Cold,… Now What? Of course it's ideal to rest up and keep your illness to yourself when a virus gets you down. Unfortunately, however, not all of us have the ability to take time off. So here are some practical suggestions to help you take care of yourself when you get sick and you can't afford to have a bed rest.   Drink lots of water.   Get an extra hour of sleep.   Wash your hands to prevent the spread of germs.   Eat soup. Pepper soup really does make you feel better. By Jessica Odia - Lagos   If you have a sore throat, gargling with salt water also does help. I know it's gross, but it works.   Take a shower. The steam from a hot shower will help you breathe better too. Stay healthy! SPARK 11
