INDUSTRY UPDATE
GEA expands VARIVENT valves with water-hydraulic actuation
World Forum and Leading Show for Life Science and Process Industries
GEA is adding water-hydraulic Hydract actuation technology to its VARIVENT valve portfolio, enabling precise inline blending and lower compressed-air demand in hygienic processing. The new actuation option replaces compressed air with a closed hydraulic system using treated water or an approved water-glycol mixture. A compact pump station supplies the valves through supply and return lines, while the virtually incompressible hydraulic fluid maintains valve position as process pressure and flow rates fluctuate. At Carlsberg’ s brewery in Fredericia, Denmark, the technology has operated in industrial production for years. Carlsberg continuously blends high-gravity beers from multiple tanks and routes them directly to the filling line, while valves in the bright beer tank matrix also perform control tasks.
CIP reaches FID on Italian biomethane platform

Learn more!

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners( CIP) has reached a final investment decision( FID) on Via Verde, an Italian biomethane platform developed through its Advanced Bioenergy Fund II( ABF II). Via Verde is ABF II’ s first investment and marks CIP’ s entry into the Italian biomethane market. The platform comprises a development pipeline of 20 projects strategically located across multiple regions of Italy, including Lombardy, Abruzzo, and Campania. Each plant is expected to process approximately 60,000 to 100,000 tonnes of agricultural waste annually. ABF II invests primarily in the development, construction, and operation of biogas plants across Europe, converting agricultural waste and other sustainable feedstock into biomethane. Once all 20 Via Verde projects are fully operational, the platform is expected to deliver approximately 1 TWh of biomethane annually, equivalent to the annual gas consumption of around 60,000 Italian households.
