Networking challenge for many industries that rely on these chemicals for their durability, heat resistance and chemical inertness. At Aquatech Amsterdam, PFAS was a particularly pressing concern for the desalination and wastewater industries. The presence of PFAS in recycled wastewater, especially from industrial and agricultural sources, poses challenges in both treatment and disposal. The removal and destruction of PFAS contaminants were highlighted as crucial processes, with many experts calling for more advanced treatment technologies that can effectively neutralise or remove these harmful chemicals.
Sealing innovations at The Gasket and Seals Show 2025
Following our time at Aquatech Amsterdam, we also attended The Gasket and Seals Show, where sealing technology was, as expected, front and centre. This event provided a deeper dive into the innovations shaping the sealing industry, especially in relation to high-performance materials and applications. As industries evolve and face increasing demands for reliability and efficiency, the sealing solutions presented at the show were tailored to meet the extreme conditions
encountered in energy, water treatment and industrial processes. Many exhibitors highlighted their latest advancements in materials that are both environmentally friendly and resistant to the extreme conditions faced in critical applications. One company that showed something that was new to our editorial team was the concept of 3D printed seals from Rapid Liquid Print( RLP). Whilst Valve World magazine has covered 3D printed parts and valves, 3D printed seals was of a new realm to us. The increasing focus on reducing leakage, improving sealing integrity and enhancing long-term durability was evident throughout the show.
After thoughts
Both exhibitions highlighted the ongoing challenges the industry faces, including the push for sustainability, the need to manage resources more effectively and the growing regulatory pressures surrounding PFAS chemicals. The innovations we saw were both exciting and necessary, as the need for cleaner, safer and more sustainable solutions continues to grow. In the coming years, we anticipate continued collaboration between manufacturers, regulators and research institutions to

find solutions to these challenges. The discussions at Aquatech Amsterdam and The Gasket and Seals Show reinforced the critical importance of networking and staying ahead of industry trends to ensure we meet the evolving demands of the global market. At Valve World, we’ re committed to bringing you the latest developments in valve and sealing technology, and our time at these events has provided us with invaluable insights into the future of the industries we serve.
