Having our special topic on Emission Control feels more relevant than ever when looking at current happenings in the world. We are in a period of time where the planet’ s climate clock is ticking louder than ever, industries across the board are being called to action, with the valve industry being no exception. While it may not grab headlines like electric vehicles or wind farms, emission control in valve systems plays a crucial, often overlooked role in the global fight against environmental degradation. From fugitive emissions at chemical plants to methane leaks in the oil and gas sector, improperly sealed or aging valves can be silent culprits in accelerating climate change.
Today’ s regulatory and societal pressures demand more than just compliance, but demand innovation. The valve sector, with its capacity to reduce emissions through smarter design, better materials and cutting-edge monitoring, is uniquely positioned to make a difference behind the usual scene of emission control.
This issue of Valve World explores how forward-thinking companies are engineering for sustainability, as well as efficiency. On our cover, we welcome L & T Valves, a company with six decades of experience that is willing to go the extra mile in all areas. Not only is the company excelling in bettering its production, but also its environmental footprint.
Other companies are following suit, with Baker Hughes highlighting how it has focused on lowering its emissions, as well as the many companies celebrating the importance of hydrogen that you can read about in the Hydrogen at Valve World article.
Whilst fugitive emissions are on every valve manufacturer’ s mind, Mousa R. Al-Harbi, in our exclusive end user interview, also highlights the importance of valve efficiency and reliability through advanced materials and new technologies. Upscaling technology is also a key area to meet environmental and production demands.
Further articles in this issue expand on the broader areas of valves, such as valves in marine ships and the steam cracking industry. With elevated updates on new products and certifications, this issue will update you on the most pressing topics in current valve industry.
As always, we would love to hear your feedback on this issue, and we welcome you to contribute your technical knowledge for following issues. http:// www. youtube. com / user / kcipub
