Eaton to supply EMAS technology to Great Wall Motor
Eaton has been chosen to supply an electromechanical drive system ( EMAS ) that provides
early shutdown of the intake valve ( EIVC ) to China-based automaker Great Wall for use in a line of hybrid electric vehicles ( HEVs ). Eaton ’ s EMAS is a valvetrainbased technology that allows manufacturers to select the intake lift that best suits the engine configuration . At low to medium engine speed and
torque , the system offers the EIVC function , reducing trapped air in the cylinder and pumping losses , increasing overall engine efficiency . When maximum performance is required , the system switches to the longest valve event to provide the highest possible power . EMAS creates a balance between fuel economy and performance .
The system includes switchable rocker arms , a mechanical drive shaft that controls the switching of the rocker arms , and an electric actuator that activates the on-demand drive . This configuration makes the system unaffected by oil temperature variations and allows rapid switching over a wide engine working range .
Brooks Instrument acquires Creative Machining Technology
Brooks Instrument , a subsidiary of Illinois Tool Works ( ITW ), has acquired Creative Machining Technology ( CMT ) of Corona , California . CMT provides machining and manufacturing services , including individual part production , end-item manufacturing , kitting and assembly . As a key supplier to Brooks Instrument , CMT specialises in high-precision CNC machining and has expertise in manufacturing and polishing ultrahigh-purity components with tight tolerances for demanding applications , such as semiconductor manufacturing . CMT ’ s manufacturing facilities and proficiency in tolerances as tight as 0.0001 ” will enable Brooks Instrument to more effectively design and produce complex wetted flow path components for their mass flow controllers ( MFCs ), which are essential in gas delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing . CMT also has Class 1,000 and Class 10,000 clean rooms for processing delicate electronic components .
SAMSON to sell part of its site in Frankfurt
SAMSON , an international supplier of products and systems to control various media , has signed a deal to sell part of its company site in Frankfurt am Main , Germany . The sale is part of SAMSON ’ s corporate strategy to continue its profitable growth , which led to the decision in 2021 to build a new headquarters and production site in Offenbach , on the opposite side of the river Main . The project , named ‘ MainChange ’, is the largest investment and innovation venture in the company ’ s 117- year history , with construction work commencing in mid-2023 . The sold plot , comprising over one-third of the entire premises , borders the river Main . The buyer , Tennet , a transmission system operator headquartered in Bayreuth , Germany , intends to use the land to extend its power grid infrastructure in the Rhine- Main region as part of its operations to future-proof the country ’ s electricity supply . www . valve-world . net Valve World June 2024
