Talos Energy brings offshore well back online after valve issue
Talos Energy has restarted production at its Sunspear field in the US Gulf after an equipment issue was resolved, the Houston-based offshore operator said. The well at Sunspear was shut in after a surface-controlled subsurface safety valve failed in July, shortly after the well began producing, according to Talos. The valve was successfully replaced in late September,
Talos said in its latest quarterly earnings report. Crude from Sunspear will flow to the Talos-owned Prince facility in the US Gulf. Meanwhile, Talos said the first well at Monument, a subsea tieback that will be operated by Beacon Offshore Energy, should spud early in the first quarter of 2026. First production from the well is expected by late next year.

Emerson to automate Thacker Pass Lithium Project
Valmet is expanding its Latin American operations with the construction of a new facility in Sorocaba, São Paulo. The new facility will house a valve production unit and administrative offices for Valmet’ s Flow Control and Automation Solutions businesses. With the new facility, Valmet further strengthens its capabilities to develop sustainable solutions close to customers.
“ The new manufacturing unit will further improve the availability of mission-critical flow control solutions to Valmet’ s customers across the region. It allows us to ensure faster delivery times and expands our capabilities to help customers meet their continuously intensifying productivity, safety, and sustainability targets,” says Fabio Maia, Vice President, Flow Control area Latin America at Valmet.
Emerson( EMR) has been selected by Lithium Americas Corp. to provide its comprehensive automation portfolio and expert technical services for the Thacker Pass project in northern Nevada. Emerson’ s automation will help develop the mine and processing facilities at Thacker Pass to enable a US supply of lithium, a critical raw material for batteries that power electric vehicles, renewable energy storage and data centers. As more consumers drive electric vehicles and use renewable energy, the demand for lithium, often called“ white gold” for its
