And a Happy New Year!
Bringing in a new year always brings so much hope and motivation; however, I also think it sometimes brings a lot of pressure with it. Pressure to meet your targets, pressure to make new and higher goals or pressure to outdo your previous year. And whilst at Valve World, pressure can be so important, remember to limit the pressure you put on yourselves. Life goes by too quickly and too intensely to live under constant pressure and scrutiny, so let’ s leave that to the flow control industry!
For this issue, I want to warmly welcome Orion SpA to the cover with its recordbreaking valve! Whilst also celebrating its 75 th anniversary, Orion has entered the Guinness World Records with the largest valve ever manufactured. This cover story focuses on Orion’ s direction over the years, and of course, the manufacturing of its biggest valve and the engineering and execution challenges.
With this issue’ s special focus being on the Chemical Industry, we have a fantastic technical article on how fundamental the chemical industry is to our modern lifestyle and how the market depicts the industry. Other related articles include how PFAS treatment systems benefit from sophisticated pressure relief valves, and bespoke pneumatic technology for agricultural spraying.
With discussions on the impact of artificial intelligence on valve sealing technology, to the damage from sound and vibrations that can occur on control valves, the range of articles in the rest of this issue is widespread and sure to grab your attention in more ways than one. Ball valves, pressure relief valves and control valves are main areas that are covered, along with pneumatic systems and new HIPPS projects.
And of course, there is no forgetting the Call for Papers that we have out for Valve World Conference Dusseldorf. We have been receiving so many incredible abstracts on a wide range of topics and are so excited to not only organise our programme, but to see you all present. The deadline has not yet arrived, so feel free to still send in your papers and be part of the discussion!
As always, we welcome all your ideas, critiques, feedback and knowledge. If you have any questions or want more information regarding submitting content for the magazine or your abstract, please feel free to contact me. https:// www. linkedin. com / showcase / valve-world /
