Valve OEMs serving the chemical sector continue to innovate and upgrade their product offerings. The following short list has been culled from press announcements made since July 2025. Tekno Valves introduced the SSWN-32 / 52 series of stainless steel diaphragm gland seal valves, designed for lecture bottles in laboratory, research and analytical applications. The valves feature stainless steel 303 bodies and internal components, with seat material options including PCTFE, PEEK, or PVDF to accommodate a wide range of gases and operating conditions. An Inconel lower diaphragm ensures superior sealing performance, while four upper stainless steel diaphragms provide enhanced durability and long service life. Chemical Industry platform, while ensuring long-term capacity expansion and supply security for domestic markets. Also in Gujarat, India’ s Petronet LNG has apparently secured funds for its 750,000 TPY propane dehydrogenation project. Outputting 500,000 TPY of polypropylene, the plan is said to align with the government’ s vision to turn India into a petrochemicals hub. Meanwhile, the Government of Chhattisgarh and GAIL have signed an MoU to develop a gas-based fertiliser project in Chhattisgarh. Plans suggest a 1.27 MMT urea manufacturing plant to be strategically located along GAIL’ s Mumbai – Nagpur – Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline corridor. And finally, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi set the foundation stone for a USD1.1 billion ammonia-urea plant in Assam. The 1.2 MMT plant is slated for commissioning in 2030. Project activity is also visible in Africa, where Saipem has been awarded two new contracts by Dangote Fertilizer for technical know-how & licensing for the realization of six urea units, four in Nigeria and two in Ethiopia, and the provision of basic engineering & design services for the related plants. Each unit will feature a record capacity of 4,235 TPD, the highest ever achieved worldwide. Continuing the fertiliser theme, phosphate rock producer Misr Phosphate is said to be expanding into fertiliser production, actively pushing to build a plant in northeast Egypt. Construction of the 600,000 TPY facility could be underway by mid-2026. Moving eastwards, TA’ ZIZ has awarded a USD1.99 billion EPC contract to build one of the world’ s largest PVC complexes in the UAE. The landmark project will be UAE’ s first, anchoring its entry into a major new chemicals value chain. The facility is to deliver 1.9 MTPA of marketable PVC, VCM, EDC, and caustic soda, enabling import substitution and boosting local manufacturing. The complex is part of the 4.7 MTPA TA’ ZIZ Phase 1 ecosystem which is set to drive over USD50 billion back into the UAE economy and create 26,000 jobs over the lifetime of the project.
Rounding off this modest overview, TOYO has announced that its proprietary urea granulation technology has been selected for Kazakhstan’ s first-ever urea plant project planned by KazAzot Prime LLP, a chemical fertiliser manufacturing company. Under this project, TOYO will serve as the licensor of urea granulation technology and will be responsible for providing a technology license, a process design package, key equipment procurement and related technical services.
Valves for the chemical industry
The flow control requirements of the chemical sector are served by both major valve manufacturers( Emerson, Flowserve, Velan, Kitz, Crane, Samson, KSB, etc) as well as a plethora of smaller valve makers that focus on specific geographies and / or provide specialty products. Given the tremendous variability in chemical conversion processes there is no‘ one size fits all’ solution when it comes to valve specification. When choosing valves, engineers typically factor in multiple considerations. High on the list is the need for chemical compatibility as wetted parts

must offer suitable resistance to corrosion and erosion to ensure valve longevity and at the same time valve materials should not suffer from leaching, which could impair product quality. Hence many valves destined for the chemical sector selected are made of stainless steels, nickel alloys and even titanium. Alternatively, plastic valves or valves with plastic linings can be considered. For hazardous chemicals( be they the raw materials, intermediates or final products), low-emission valves may be required with features such as bellows-seals, live-loaded packing, secondary containment, etc. Other valve selection considerations include pressure and temperature resistance, reliability, long service life, process control, ease of automation, etc.
