Looking ahead ( but with an eye on the mirror )
With the first issue of the year , I wish all of our readers , new and old , a healthy and happy 2025 ! The editorial team here at Valve World is determined to bring you another year ’ s worth of magazines packed full of interesting developments , new advancements and valuable information .
But before looking ahead , I would quickly like to take a look in the rear-view mirror , so to speak , and reflect on another hugely successful Valve World Expo & Conference held in Dusseldorf . It was truly inspirational to witness the positive and friendly interaction between such a vast number of flow control professionals who had travelled to Germany from far and wide .
My colleagues and I were kept flat out the whole time , speaking to standholders about market developments , learning about new innovations from conference speakers and holding impromptu interviews with delegates . You can expect more in later issues but for a quick overview of what this action-packed event was like , please do turn to page 32 .
Moving back to the present , this issue features Valmet in the Cover Story spot , with thanks to Ville Kähkönen and Andreas Pischke who kindly discussed Next-level reliability : mission-critical flow control solutions from Valmet . Please see pages 8 – 11 .
Other interesting stories include a project report featuring Air Liquide ( page 12 ), an overview of hydrofluoric acid ( page 14 ), a technical paper on 3D printed valves ( page 19 ) and a discussion on the functional contributions of electric actuators in industrial processes ( page 21 ). There is also a safety report about a fatal incident at an acetic acid plant ( page 16 ) which I urge everyone to read and share .
