It’ s time we torqued …

This month we have a special focus on actuation, which means the Valve World office has been filled with torque jokes and banter for the past few weeks. Actuation is a topic which is close to the heart of many of our global community – after all, where would our valves be without actuation? To mark the occasion, we’ ve collected a handful of articles covering everything from automation diagnostics to Ratio Reducing Valves to intelligent positioners.
For example, in this issue you’ ll find‘ It’ s all about torque’ penned by Guenter Oexler and Veli Yiğit. They have developed a unique, patent-pending gasket design which reduces adhesion resulting from the‘ slip-stick’ effect that occurs when valves are not operated for a long time. Be sure to read about their innovative invention on page 27.
Peter Telle’ s article‘ Rethinking actuation for reliability and TCO’ on page 30 tackles the development and deployment of specialised Ratio Reducing Valves. He believes these mark a“ necessary evolution” in flow control technology.
We welcome our friend Velan back to the cover this month. Our editor in Toronto, Steven Fennell, spoke with the Velan team to find out about their latest product offerings and advances. As a renowned manufacturer of quality industrial valves, they are adept at supplying equipment to demanding applications ranging from severe service to clean energy. Read more from page 8.
As you flick through this issue, you will certainly notice the wealth of events next year where you can network, learn, and do business. We have not two, not three, but four(!) valve events in the line-up, from Valve World Expos & Conferences in Germany, Canada, and China, to the Fugitive Emissions Summit in the US. There is literally something for everyone, so take a look at the details spread throughout the magazine and start planning your visits! If you’ d like to share your knowledge and experience, submit an abstract to Valve World Düsseldorf, Germany or the Fugitive Emissions Summit in Texas. For an easy overview, go to our Valve World events page: https:// valve-world. net / event-directory / where you’ ll find everything you need to know.
I hope you enjoy this month’ s magazine and remember … let’ s keep torquing!
Best wishes, Lyndsey Denton-Fray Editor of Valve World editor’ s page
