Siemens updates SIPART PS2 with new features
Siemens enhances its SIPART PS2 positioner with inductive position detection and Bluetooth connectivity for improved valve monitoring and maintenance .

Robust position detection is an important feature for valves and actuators . Especially when it comes to vibration , explosion protection and SIL applications across all industries like e . g . chemical and petrochemical industry . Digitalisation is crucial in the field of process instrumentation for life status , process monitoring and predictive maintenance of your instruments . Siemens introduced Bluetooth and NCSoB ( Non- Contact Sensor on Board technology ) for the SIPART PS100 models previously . Now these features are available for their flagship SIPART PS2 as well .
SIPART PS2 is now available with inductive , wear-free position detection
With the new integrated inductive and wearfree position detection system , the SIPART PS2 has improved robustness in 4-20 mA and HART applications . This enables an even higher MTBF ( Mean Time Between Failures ) due to the reduction in mechanical parts that are subject to natural wear . The following was achieved :
• Easier and faster commissioning due to fewer mechanical interactions
• Extended angle of rotation up to 160 °
• Improved robustness against vibrations
• NCS with limit switches combinable in one device .
SIPART PS2 goes digital with Bluetooth and Siemens SITRANS mobile IQ App
With the new SIPART PS2 connected to the Siemens SITRANS mobile IQ App via Bluetooth , a great step towards improving process monitoring and predictive maintenance is reached , especially when the device is physically difficult to access . The Bluetooth functionality is fully integrated into the positioner enclosure and officially registered . With the new Bluetooth option , users have easier access to the advanced SIPART PS2 data and control functions . Reading the self-control data ensures the device ’ s vitality and normal operation . copied to additional instruments with a single click for identical installation . Advanced diagnostics are displayed in charts with target-performance comparisons ( see Figure 1 ). Valve movement irregularities or imperfections can be corrected in real time while standing at the positioner . Furthermore , the SITRANS mobile IQ app provides a direct link to manuals , certificates or FAQs for the connected SIPART positioner . Immediate support is possible by sending a request with the relevant diagnostic data from the app . Thus , the Bluetooth functionality of the SIPART PS2 and PS100 allows for convenient and quick on-site configuration , monitoring and support .
