About the company
AMPO POYAM VALVES specialises in highly engineered valves and fluid handling solutions for the most severe services .

Ampo Poyam Valves is currently supplying more than 4,000 slurry angle severe service valves for the expansion project of Lanjigarh Alumina Refinery from existing capacity of 2 MTPA to 5 MTPA in Lanjigarh , Odisha , India . The completion of this project will place Lanjigarh Alumina Refinery , owned by Vedanta , as one of the world ’ s largest single-location alumina refinery complexes . Vedanta Aluminium Limited have relied on Ampo Poyam Valves for the design and manufacture of more than 4,000 slurry angle valves for isolation purposes in different severe service units of the alumina refinery , such as bauxite , evaporation , RMPH , causticisation , digestion , security and fine seed filtration , etc . All those valves are being manufactured in Ampo India , which comprises an area of approximately 15,000 square meters in Coimbatore ( Tamil Nadu ), India , and which includes valve assembly , testing , painting and packing facilities . Here , they are able to manufacture valves of up to 72 ” in size .

Slurry valves
Slurry valves are used in a variety of applications where abrasive and corrosive materials need to be transported , such as in mining , chemical processing , wastewater treatment , and power generation . These materials can be extremely damaging to traditional valves , causing rapid wear and tear , leakage , and reduced operational lifespan . Severe service slurry valves are designed to withstand these harsh conditions by using specialised materials and construction techniques . Slurry angle valves are a specific subset of slurry valves that have an angled or inclined design in their flow path . These valves typically have an angled body or seat that helps redirect the slurry flow , providing better resistance to abrasion and reducing wear on the valve internals . The angle design can also aid in controlling the flow and reducing pressure drop . Flow control is another key consideration in severe service slurry valves . The high velocity flows and abrasive particles in slurry applications can cause significant damage to valve internals , leading to reduced efficiency and premature failure . To mitigate these effects , severe service slurry valves may be designed with specialised flow paths and trim materials that can withstand high velocities and reduce the impact of abrasive particles on valve internals . These features help to extend the operational life of the valve and improve its overall performance .
