Y-lift check valves are a specific type of retention valve : a device that allows the flow of a fluid in just one direction inside of a pipeline system . There are different kinds of non-return valves depending on the mechanism used to prevent backflow . Piston check valves receive the flow under the disc . Then , the inlet line pressure forces the disc to move within the body bore , allowing the fluid flow through the valve . In case of quick reverse flow , the disc automatically returns to a close position . Y-Lift check valves with pressure seal cover are used to prevent reverse fluid in lines with high pressure and / or temperature . For instance , in boiler applications , this valve is used as a feed water check valve , preventing reverse water flow through the boiler during normal operation or during boiler shutdown . Babcock Valves designs , manufactures and maintains Y-lift check valves in sizes from 2 “ to 24 ” with an ANSI Class from 600 to 4500 . They can be equipped with an equalizer for full disc . The valves can be flanged or butt-weld ends . Babcock offers this product in a full range of body / cover materials and a full range of trim materials . Babcock products meet the design of ANSI B16.34 , ANSIB16.5 , API 600 , BS , and DIN .

Schubert & Salzer offer control valves
Schubert & Salzer Control Systems are now offering the latest generation of their tried-andtested 8049 digital positioners for pneumatic control valves with IO-Link . Important diagnostic data from controller and valve are thus available to plant operating companies . In addition , valve parameters such as dynamics , accuracy , and characteristic curve can be simply adapted at any time without physical access . A single cable with M12 plug bundles the positioning signal , position feedback , data transmission , and even the power supply . The integration of the international IO-Link industrial standard in its latest version 1.1.3 facilitates the installation and maintenance of the valves in complex plants . Additional device-specific software or hardware is not required . Incorrect connection is technically impossible due to the coded connecting plug . The controller adopts the previously used parameterisation automatically by plug & play and is immediately ready for operation after self-calibration .
Valmet launches Neles™ Q-Disc™
Valmet is extending its butterfly valve product range with Neles™ Q-Disc™ , a new highperformance feature to help flow balancing in control valve applications . The launch complements the offering of the modular Neles™ Neldisc™ and Jamesbury™ Wafer-Sphere™ butterfly valve platform that was introduced to the market in June 2021 . “ The modular butterfly valve range was developed to help our customers with their valve selection not only for typical application challenges but also to solve the problems in complex process conditions ,” says Taija Hämäläinen , Head of butterfly valve products at Valmet . “ Q-Disc™ is specifically designed for control applications . Valmet expanded its offering with valve solutions in April 2022 , when the industrial flow control company Neles was merged into Valmet . Neles is now a Flow Control business line at Valmet . Q-Disc™ is a problem solver for challenging flow conditions . It can be utilized to avoid cavitation in low opening angles , and it also provides market-leading noise reduction capabilities – even up to 12 dB in certain flow conditions .
